About this Cook
I am a married woman living in Pennsylvania, who loves to cook for her husband, and anyone else who appreciates my cuisine. Besides cooking and being married to a wonderful man, I work in the Biotech field, and have held jobs in R&D, analytical services, validation, and supply chain. Also, I like to spend time outdoors trying to burn the calories I just consumed cooking copious amounts of food, especially by hiking and spending time outdoors. Other hobbies include watching crime shows, reading, crafts, bargain-hunting, fleat-markets, and farmers markets.
My favorite things to cook
I love to cook family style meals, slow-cooker meals, Italian food, chicken dishes, PA Dutch food, and occassionaly a unique ethnic dish.
My favorite family cooking traditions
My favorite family cooking traditions are cooking VERY LARGE amounts of food on the weekend or holidays, then spending the next week trying to create unique dishes out of them :-) Also, growing up we had a lot of polish food around the holidays, which I have tried to recreate to some extent.
My cooking triumphs
I have recently learned how to make my own dough for potpies, pumpkin pies, etc. I am never going back to the boxed stuff!!
My cooking tragedies
I would have to say a recent attempt to make homemade pierogi's. It was not all for naught though, I ended up using the ingredients for homemade gnocchi's!

Chicken Pot Pie VIII
This recipe was tasty, especially the crust. I ended up using butter flavored shortening instead of lard, and the crust was still delicious. I have also substituted turkey for chicken with excellent results. Another change I made was that I substituteda cup of frozen peas and carrot for the fresh carrots and celery. The only complaint I have is that this recipe does made WAY too much filling for the pie. However, before making this recipe I remember this complaint among other users, and used only 2 cups of broth and 2 cups of chicken with great results.

Grandpa's Peanut Butter Fudge
I made this recipe for co-workers about a year ago, and it was a hit. Very delicious, and so easy to make! I even caught some co-workers going back for thirds, so what does that say about the recipe!

Honey Fried Chicken
The chicken had a good taste, but some of the honey ended up dripping off the chicken, then burning at the bottom of the pan. However, I would make this recipe again just for the taste.
