About this Cook
Like a lot of people I balance work, fun trying to keep everyone fed. Thank goodness I have a husband who likes to cook and grill too. Moving to Florida has introduced us to a whole new world of cuisine (central american southern cooking) that we never experienced in the midwest. Lots more fresh fish too. It has been a shot in the arm for our menu.
My favorite things to cook
I love the smell of any baked goods in my house. Cookies, breakfast treats and pies. I love to prepare some of my mom's favorites that bring back wonderful warm fuzzy memories. Anything on the grill in this warm climate is a treat. I love to go out in the back porch and smell all of the foods cooking on our neighbors grills.
My favorite family cooking traditions
My mom always made homemade stuffing with an old grinder. My brother has inherited it and it is almost as good as mom's. Also I am determined to make my mom's Easter rolls some day.
My cooking triumphs
I have found some wonderful recipes that have been requested over and over from my friends and family. That is a wonderful feeling, I hope my sons have the same memories as I have of my mothers cooking.
My cooking tragedies
I have had more than a few flops. Probablly the worst was fish with some sort of orange peel toping. I made it when I was in my mid 20's and didn't know that I shouldn't include the bitter white part of the peel. My ex husband still teases me about that catastrophe. I remember my dad saying "you really shouldn't mix fruit with any meat or fish"!

Slow Cooker Sweet Potato Casserole
Delicious and so easy to make. I added some pumpkin pie spice, but other than that I stuck with the recipe. A big hit at our family Thanksgiving dinner. I will be making this again!

Delicious and easy! I added a can of mushrooms and bumped up the sauce and cheese. We will make this again. Thanks Jenn :)
