About this Cook
I am a mother of five kids, living on the Upper West Side of Manhattan. I work pt as the Dir. of Jewish Ed and Culture for a community center. I love cooking, baking, creating new recipes. I am especially good at getting things together at the last moment. We keep a glatt kosher home, so I find it extemely gratifying and rewarding to cook foods and dishes that everyone enjoys.
My favorite things to cook
My favorite things are all types of chicken dishes, Belgian waffles, chocolate chip cookies, apple cake, brownies, grilled fish, and a Sabbath favorite; cholent with awesome homemade kishka.
My favorite family cooking traditions
Ukranian, American, Israeli
My cooking triumphs
Roast Turkey with gravy, homemade cranberry sauce, cornbread and roast asparagus for 20 in under 3 hours. My son, Yaki, would like to add that his favorite meal is the white meat chicken from Friday Night Sabbath Dinner. Zvi says that his favorite is chocolate cake and smoothies.
My cooking tragedies
A tri-level turkey meatloaf, layered with eggplant and G-d knows what else, (I try to forget) from some unnamed cookbook. (If you ask me, I'll tell you which cookbook) The guests that were fortunate to partake were of the gourmand variety. Oy, how I'd love to forget that meal!

Chocolate Pound Cake III
This was the worst cake I ever made. maybe because I substituted soymilk (plus and acide) for the buttermilk, but whatever the case, it was a waste of eggs, flour, sugar etc. the batter looked beautiful but otherwise a real waste.

Chewy Peanut Butter Brownies
OMG! These are the best, to-die-for, absolutely amazing brownies. I tweaked it a bit, threw in a few handfuls of mini, vegan chocolate chips and some salted roasted peanuts. I just might finish the entire pan myself!!!! Make these as soon as you can!
