Whole Wheat Refrigerator Rolls

This is a good roll recipe- and convenient to have it rise overnight in the fridge. I do prefer recipes made with butter, though, because I think they are a little more tender. But there were still really good. I let them rise about 1.5 hours the day after before baking. Perfect. I made mostly cresents, and a dozen round rolls in a cake pan. I got 4 dozen, but they were all different sizes.

Smoked Paprika Goulash for the Slow Cooker

This was very yummy and easy to prepare. I totally ignored the salt amount (I know AR changed it from 2 tablespoons to 2 teaspoons, but still, that is WAY too much). I was fine with just a sprinkle of salt- the tomato paste has a lot of salt in it already. I'd salt to taste about an hour or so before you serve it. I used a mix of Spanish smoked paprika, and sweet Hungarian paprika (didn't want to use up all of my smoked paprika in one shot!). There was a nice hint of smoke. I only used one pound of meat- 3 lbs would have been way too much for us. This was a very flavorful and hearty dish.

Mediterranean Black Olive Bread

This turned out great- I loved the crispy crust. I did bake a little lower than stated at first. I didn't know how to tell if it was done, because my oven bakes hot, but it was pretty close to the time given here. I was afraid the dough would stick to the towel, so I liberally floured the towel, and the top of the loaf, and it came out with no problems. Some of the flour burned in the oven, though. I used Kalamatas. It smelled so good when it was rising- I had to snack on the extra olives!

German Lentil Soup

This was really good, flavorful and hearty. Luckily I read the reviews- I double the liquid. I wouldn't use all broth- use some water, because the ham and W. sauce makes this too salty otherwise. I cooked this on high in my crockpot 5-6 hours and it was perfect. Veggies and lentils were tender, and the soup was thickened. We had this with warmed, store-bought baguettes and buter.

Banana Muffins II

Good, basic, and easy muffin recipe. I chose it because it used butter instead of oil or shortening. This was quick to whip up, and a good after-school snack for the kids. The adults liked them too.

Pizza On The Grill I

Red Currant Pie

This was yummy- I used currants from my parent's yard. I made this in a 10-inch pie plate instead of a springform pan. I didn't bother with "resting" the dough, and I baked the meringue at a much higher temp (like 400) until lightly browned.

Egg Noodles

These were good- they had a old-fashioned homemade flavor. I mixed them up in my Kitchenaid. Make sure you use plenty of flour when rolling these.

Mimi's Smoked Salmon Chowder

We absolutely loved this. It was so flavorful, rich, and warming. It was wonderful. I couldn't stop eating. I didn't cook it as long as it stated; it was thick enough before that, so I just cooked until the potatoes were tender. I've never used smoked salmon before- it gave the soup a wonderful flavor. Thanks for this recipe. We had it with Light Wheat Rolls.

Cream Filled Cupcakes

We all loved these; they were so fun to make and looked like they were difficult! I glazed them with "Satiny Chocolate Glaze" and that was the perfect topper. Then I used leftover filling to pipe a squiggly line on top. I used all butter in the filling. I got 30 cupcakes out of this recipe.

Sour Cream Peach Kuchen

We LOVED this! The texture of the crust is melt-in-your mouth; and it was so easy, I just made it in the food processor and then patted in the pan with the back of a long spoon. I cut the reicpe in half- it's best warm, but it's good cold too. I will definitely be making this again! We had this at the end of our German-themed meal a few days ago.

Hot German Potato Salad III

This was tasty, and not too hard to make, either. Just make sure you don't overcook your potatoes. I used cider vinegar. We had this with German bratwursts, Kaiser rolls, and broccoli.

Baked Ziti II

This is a good meal to feed to kids and picky eaters, but if I made it again it would need some serious spicing up (garlic, onions, etc). However, my kids loved it, and it was an extremely easy, and filling meal.
