About this Cook
I am a working mom, wife, and volunteer my time to the Boy Scouts so my schedule is very packed. Quick, nutritious dinners are a priority for me and my family.
My favorite things to cook
I make the BEST Beef Stroganoff from scratch. I love to cook, however, I do NOT bake. Yuck. Hate it.
My favorite family cooking traditions
My husband insists on a VERY traditional Thanksgiving dinner, but for Christmas I get to be creative. From this site, I've tried Gouda-Stuffed Pork Chops and Rouquefort Steaks (see my reviews of them).
My cooking triumphs
Everytime we entertain and I pull off a magnificent 4 or 5 course dinner with beautiful presentation I feel quite proud of myself.
My cooking tragedies
The first year I cooked Thanksgiving dinner for my parents the heating elements went out on the oven! To this day they both honestly believe I forgot to turn on the oven but the lights were all on indicating everything was working. Besides, my husband was in charge of the turkey.;)He ran to the store & we had deli turkey meat. The bird was done 15 min after my folks left that afternoon! :(

Grilled Portobello with Basil Mayonnaise Sandwich
Wow. I almost didn't make the mayo as I don't typically put mayo on my burgers, but I think this added to perfection! I made a lot more marinade mix than the recipe called for to help coat the top.

Best Formula Three-Cheese Fondue
The flavoring was good but I didn't like the gritty texture. Perhaps I didn't cook the flour long enough? It seemed to be burning rather than cooking, even with the temperature turned down. Careful when choosing the expensive cheeses. Right next to the Gruyere for $9.99/lb was a choice for $19.99/lb. so there are clearly choices out there. Buyer beware!

Caramel Apple Dip
I'm not sure if I liked the strength of the cream cheese flavor (& I LOVE cream cheese normally). If I try this again, I'll definitely add some vanilla extract & maybe even a sprinkling of cinnamon.
