Butter Cream Frosting II

Reviewed: Jul. 22, 2009
Very good recipe. Tastes a lot like the Wilton butter cream, but a bit creamier and more butter flavor. I used it on cinnamon rolls and it paired nicely.

Scottish Shortbread IV

Reviewed: Jul. 22, 2009
This is the BEST Scottish Shortbread recipe (I did add the 1/2 tsp. salt others suggested and a tsp. vanilla). I had no problem working with the dough, I used the entire amount of flour listed. I shaped it into a rectange-ish log and sliced them about 1/2" thick. They were the most tender, delicious shortbread cookies I've ever tasted! I was worried that the brown sugar would be overpowering but it was perfect. They did take about 10 minutes longer to bake than listed, but they were worth the wait. I will definitely make these again!

Savory Cinnamon Rolls

Reviewed: Jul. 22, 2009
This recipe turned out great on the 1st try. I did have to add a little extra flour to make the dough less sticky and easier to roll out. The texture of the rolls is perfect and they taste really good! I used the recipe frosting, but next time I will make a butter cream so that it tastes more like a Cinnabon. I would prefer more cinnamon/sugar but that's just because I LOVE cinnamon. This was a nice recipe to let the kids help with too.

Special Butterscotch Chip Cookies in a Jar

Reviewed: Oct. 10, 2008
My sister gave me this recipe in a jar about 5 years ago and I have been making them every year since! These don't look like they will bake up correctly when you put them on the pan but they come out perfect every time. DELICIOUS!

Plain Eggless Cake

Reviewed: Apr. 6, 2008
This cake was not good at all. It is way too sweet and tastes like canned milk, yuck! I gave it 2 stars instead of one because it did rise, though it was still thick and doughy on the inside. Definitely not worth trying again.

Eggless Chocolate Cake II

Reviewed: Mar. 26, 2008
This eggless cake is the best I've made by a mile! It is tender and moist, but does not taste like an under cooked brownie like most eggless cakes. My 7 yr old is allergic to eggs so over the years I've tried many eggless recipes and egg substitutes but none of them were beyond "ok" in flavor or texture. Normally eggless recipes tend to get overdone on the edges and stay underdone in the center, not with this cake! This cake rises PERFECTLY, it even came out of the pan without any trouble, which has always been an issue in the past when trying to decorate. At my son's party this year I made 2 cakes, one regular, the other with this eggless recipe. Most of the guests actually liked this one better, which is saying a lot. The only thig I did different was to add about 1/4 cup of Hershey's syrup (we love chocolate). Definitely worth 5 stars!

Crumb Apple Pie

Reviewed: Oct. 19, 2007
This was one of the less enjoyable apple pie recipes I've tried. There is WAY too much sugar and spices. It also could use some butter and flour to make the filling a better consistency. The temperature is too high and not long enough to cook the apples thoroughly. The crumb topping will burn if not covered until the last 15 minutes of baking. The only thing good about this recipe is the crumb topping is delicious. Do yourself a favor, stick with Grandma Ople's recipe, and use the crumb topping from this one.

Chocolate Glaze II

This glaze is just right for bundt cake! You can make it without the cocoa powder and it's a very yummy vanilla glaze.

Daddy's Sausage and Peppers

Reviewed: Aug. 15, 2007
This recipe was easy and delicious! I served it over penne pasta and it was a huge hit! Only thing I did different is I used garlic sausage and added a little hot sauce to spice it up. I'll definitely make this again and again!

Strawnana Bread

Reviewed: Aug. 15, 2007
This is an average tasting banana bread, nothing special. You cannot taste the strawberries at all. If I make it again I'll add some vanilla and use brown sugar instead of white.

This salad was delicious! I left out the milk, added and extra tablespoon of vinegar and let it marinate over night. YUM!

Easy to Remember Pie Crust

Reviewed: Jul. 29, 2006
This crust is pretty to look at but comes out greasy, as it calls for twice the shortening of most recipes I've used. The dough was also hard to work with and falls apart easily. You're better off with the Basic Flaky Pie Crust recipe.

Cherry Pie II

This cherry filling had a wonderful tart flavor but was too runny for my taste. It just needs a bit more flour to thicken it.

Four Egg Yellow Cake

Reviewed: Mar. 7, 2005
This cake is WONDERFUL! I made it for my son's 4th birthday party and everyone LOVED it. It's a very simple cake to make. I used butter flavored Crisco instead of plain. It rose perfectly and was moist and delicious. You won't be disappointed with this recipe!

One Bowl Chocolate Fudge

This recipe is fantastic!! It's so smooth and creamy, and it really tastes like chocolate! Takes literally 5 minutes to make, perfect for busy moms. I have tried it adding mini marshmallows and that is great too!

Fresh Corn and Tomato Casserole

Reviewed: Sep. 3, 2002
This recipe was very colorful, but lacked a blended flavor. It tasted like corn, tomatoes and bacon, but not the "casserole type" flavor like I had hoped. I think it would turn out better with crushed tomatoes (rather than fresh sliced)and fresh herbs.

Toll House® Famous Fudge

Reviewed: Aug. 30, 2002
I did not like this recipe at all! I followed the directions to the letter, with poor results. It looks NOTHING like the picture. It wasn't creamy either, and the sugar cooking time needs increased or the sugar will still be "gritty". I will not be making this again!

French Bread Rolls to Die For

Reviewed: Aug. 30, 2002
These rolls were good, but taste more like an English muffin than true French bread!!The cooking time listed is WAY too long, 10-12 minutes is more accurate, or the temp needs lowered. I cooked mine for 15 minutes while in the other room feeding my babies, and they were already starting to burn on the bottoms. They were pretty tasty, and look nice, but the recipe definitely needs some adjustments. Maybe making a loaf instead of rolls would help?
