About this Cook
Cooking is a passion of mine...I sit and think of new ideas based on the foods I eat out, see in a magazine, or enjoy at a friend's home. When I'm not doing that, I search for out-of-print recipe books, that I'd like to purchase. I also like to draw using various mediums:pen & ink, charcoal, pastel, etc,......
My favorite things to cook
seafood stuffed shells, deviled crabs, home-made muffins, cheesecakes, seafood alfredo, home-made pizza, yeast & quick breads, regular & seafood lasagna, most cookies, and a down-home favorite, Cheese grits covered w/shrimp and gravy!
My favorite family cooking traditions
When my kids were little, we used to bake cookies and cinnamon rolls together....they got to help in the kitchen, we had a great time together, and I ALWAYS KNEW WHERE THEY WERE! (LOL)
My cooking triumphs
Successfully baking a turkey at age 13, a cheesecake that didn't crack, and mastering my mother's recipe for a flaky piecrust....she always told me keep trying, I'd get it right, one day.....and I did. God bless her.
My cooking tragedies
Do we reeeeaaaalllly have to go there?! My first pie....the crust alone was enough to get me banned from the kitchen! No butter or shortening to speak of...just water and flour....turned out hard as a brick! I honestly don't know whether it was a recipe for piecrust or plaster-of-paris!
