Sugar Cookie Icing
About this Cook
I love to cook, bake, and entertain. When I have a dinner party or family gathering, I love to plan the menu and decorations in advance; it's fun for me! My Mom was a great cook... nothing fancy, just basic and simple good cooking. Hubby cooks very little, but he does man a great BBQ!
My favorite things to cook
I enjoy baking cookies, cakes and pies; I also love trying new recipes on the family.
My favorite family cooking traditions
We love the traditional turkey dinner at Thanksgiving and Christmas, using my late mother's dressing recipe. Every Christmas morning, we have Pillsbury Cinnamon rolls! (I know, I know... I should make them from scratch from a recipe here!! LOL!)
My cooking triumphs
My greatest joy in the kitchen is giving thanks to The Lord for His provision, and making something delicious out of what I have to work with. When my family thanks me with a kiss on the cheek, I know dinner was yummy. This site has provided a lot of good recipes, and been the reason for some of those kisses. *smile*
My cooking tragedies
The first year my husband and I were together I made a turkey dinner using a 'utility grade' turkey... man, I think that thing had 3 drumsticks. It was nuclear waste! But he ate it, bless him.

English Trifle to Die For
Can't give it less than 5 stars, but I did have a few issues. First of all, the custard was too thin as written; if you can whisk in a tablespoon or two of cornstarch, I'm sure that would help it thicken. I had to chill the custard for HOURS before it was even near thick enough to layer on. When I poured it on, it drizzled all the way to the bottom and covered up all the pretty layers I'd made. *insert boo boo lip here* but I did garnish it with a few leftover fresh raspberries and some chopped up Skor chocolate bars, delicious. My husband and most dinner guests loved it! May make again, but need to tweak that custard. Daughter suggested homemade PUDDING instead of custard; will search out some recipes. Thanks!!

Crackle Top Molasses Cookies
Mine did not crackle, sadly. I don't know why, but the past few times I have made soft molasses cookies, they haven't crackled. Hmm. Anyway, these cookies tasted fine, but I do have another recipe which uses brown sugar, and the family likes better. But thanks!

Easy, Eggless Strawberry Ice Cream
Very good - can't give it less than 5 stars. I didn't use all the liquid called for as I knew it would overflow in my machine, so I used 2 cups heavy (whipping) cream, and 1 cup whole (homo) milk. It was just fine, and a pretty colour too. I pureed the strawberries in the food processor, with the sugar. Next time, I may just mash them as they turned out a bit liquid-y this way. But it all came together and tasted delicious - very "fresh".
