Grandma's Tomato Soup

Reviewed: Aug. 30, 2009
really good and simple. i skipped the sugar too as i have vine ripened tomatoes. added some fresh basil, garlic, onion, and celery salt. i also used milk instead of water for a creamy version. nice basic recipe, thanks!

i have to hide this from my boyfriend or the kids won't get any when they come visit! i use a dehydrator overnight and it's perfect! i also add some of JIM GOODE'S BBQ RUB to it as it makes my ribs sooo tender! don't skimp on the pineapple juice, the enzymes help to break down the meat. SOOO GOOD!

Easy Meatloaf

MMMMMMMM!! really good recipe. i did add some meat rub and worcestershire to it. let it sit in fridge for an hour or so before cooking. recipe doesn't say to cover or not, i cover it with foil, then take off foil and bake for another 15 minutes. put a couple slices of bread at the bottom of the pan to soak up the grease. yummy!!

Foolproof Rib Roast

Reviewed: Dec. 25, 2008
okay i used the recipe for garlic prime rib, but utilized this method of cooking. DON'T BE AFRAID!! i used a tablespoon of olive oil, some beef baste, pepper and minced garlic. scored the fat and rubbed it all in, let it set for half hour or so. it was all i could do to keep from opening the oven, but due to other reviews i did not. i had some picky eaters for christmas, and nobody complained, only the inlaw who wanted his piece cooked a little longer. it was nice and pink, yum! i strained out the garlic pieces and made gravy with the drippings. i did add water when i turned the oven on the second time. trust me, it turned out wonderful!! i was skeptical, beings i cannot afford to throw food away.

yummy yummy in our tummies! i only used 1 teaspoon salt instead of a tablespoon. didn't change anything else. i turned it several times, as chicken will burn on the grill. i marinated about 20 hours....turned out really good. thanks for the great recipe!

Country Seed Bread

Reviewed: Mar. 22, 2008
this bread really rocks! i ate almost half a loaf when it came out of the oven. the only thing i added was some dough enhancer you can buy from www.kitchenresource.com it works like gluten, but preserves your homemade bread longer and really enhances it. the texture is better and doesn't crumble when you slice it. this batch i ran out of flax seed so i used flax seed meal so we'll see how it turns out. i like to add sunflower seeds too. this recipe is pretty versatile as far as seeds. i make in bread machine, starting with warm water, yeast and honey and let the yeast come to life b4 adding the flour.

Vegetarian Cottage Cheese Patties

i do not fry mine, i do add a splash or 2 of worcestershire sauce to the patty mix and a dash of sage. you can use cream of celery instead of mushroom, and i like to add 1/2 cup of sour cream to that. yum!

Bread Machine Pizza Dough

Reviewed: Dec. 27, 2007
WOW!! i've made my own pizza for years, then i tried this and it was the BEST! i don't like beer but to me it didn't taste "beerish" smelled awesome through the house. i did use about 3 cups of flour, added a little pizza seasoning. i also baked on a stone at 450 for about 10 to 12 minutes. shut oven off and let sit for a while. I'LL DEFINATELY KEEP THIS AND USE WHENEVER I GOT A FLAT BEER THE BOYFRIEND LEAVES IN FRIDGE...YUMMY!

Grandma Ople's Apple Pie

Reviewed: Nov. 29, 2007
perfect! i made a lard pastry and added a pinch of baking powder to it. i never tried this technique before but pouring the liquid over the top is what makes this pie so great. be careful not to cook the liquid too long though. i also had to have a little cinnamon in it. YUM!

Jim Goode's BBQ Beef Rub

Reviewed: Apr. 8, 2007
mmmmm wow! it's like bbq for dummies, you cannot screw up! i used it on beef ribs and pork ribs and even tofu. i wrap it with the rub, throw in grill on high, then turn down low for about an hour. then baste with bbq sauce at the end. i can't believe i made such tender ribs, like magic. i'd add some cayenne to this for some kick. i made in oven too, just cover with foil. all these herbs and spices together are a perfect combination.
