The beauty of this recipe is the ability to alter to your liking. So I cut the oats to 1 1/2 cups and added 1 1/2 cups of Organic Flax Seed Pumpkin Cereal (no reason, just saw it in the store and though it would be a good addition) so then I omitted the wheat germ and also the salt. Kept all the wet ingredients the same plus added 1/2 c each of golden raisins, coconut, chocolate chips and finely chopped slivered almonds. When I thought they were done baking, I cut them in the pan before they cooled but could tell they would crumble so I scored them and put them back in the oven to continue baking - sorta like with biscotti. I placed the bars on a baking rack to continue cooling. These were delicious, I know I will be making them often!
