I made this sauce tonight for my family. My husband always says that my spaghetti sauce is missing something and he isn't sure what...until I made this sauce! He tasted it and said that all it needed now was pasta! Thank you for sharing this recipe. I did use only 1/4 c. sugar; minced garlic; fresh oregano; and instead of the tomato sauce, I used a 28oz can of 'chunky crushed tomatos w/ basic, garlic and oregano plus one small can of plain tomato sauce and the tomato paste and a vermouth cooking wine.

I always have trouble with recipes not turning out just right. This time, however, the recipe was exact! I followed it exactly as planned and it came out perfectlly browned, very very tasty. I had to make myself stay out of the dough...that was even scrumptious! Thank you for this recipe, it makes a huge amount and its going to help me get my holiday baking done a lot more efficiently.

My 1st pound cake! It turned out crunchy on the bottom and so nice and moist inside. My 4 year old never eats all of her store bought cake -- she asked for 3rds!!! I have to make myself not have another piece. I am SO PROUD! Thanks for a fantastic and well written recipe. I'm ready to make another one!
