Gotta have my bowl, gotta have cereal
About this Cook
A newlywed who is learning to cook for two, I enjoy adapting less-than-healthy recipe favorites to healthier versions.
My favorite things to cook
Spaghetti, Tacos, chili, appetizers, home fries, quick and easy meals
My favorite family cooking traditions
southern food and warm gatherings! Dishes like fried chicken with homestyle mashed potatoes, hearty soups with cornbread, classic holiday meals and enough food for mom to feed an army with!
My cooking triumphs
Hand-decorated cakes, 3 tier cake, the best fried chicken batter EVER, learning to make the best, crispiest home fry
My cooking tragedies
Burning soup! Straining the batter off of my chicken nuggets(I thought you were supposed to! hehe)

Best Brownies
These are definitely NOT store bought brownies- and that is a GOOD thing. They were very rich, moist, fudge-y brownies that my hubby loved. My only deviation from the original recipe was using self rising instead of all purpose flour and omitting the salt and baking powder. I do not regret this decision, because the out come was a dense, delectable brownie. Oh, and I melted the butter for the icing and added about 2 tbsp of milk to it to make a glaze. Oh my heavens.

Unbelievable Chicken
Fantastic! It has a sort of asian-inspired flavor. I used chicken tenderloins and they turned out great. Definitely marinade for the full time recommended. I took the remaining marinade and cooked it down to a thick sauce (cooking also kills any bacteria worries) and it made an excellent dip. I will definitely make this again- maybe even with beef next time!

Chocolate Chip Cookie Dough + Cupcake = The BEST Cupcake. Ever.
These were definitely not as good as I expected them to be. Usually I poopoo at negative reviews when so many are positive, but I didn't have a good experience with these. There was no discernable cookie dough in the middle. I followed directions to a T. Better luck next time? Perhaps precision is key here!
