I am in my early 30's and married. My husband and I have been together for a very long time. We have no children together but he has a beautiful daughter. I am also an avid horseback rider with the dream of one day owning my own horse and barn to house him in. My husband is extremely supportive of this dream and he also loves my cooking!
My favorite things to cook
Dinner and appetizers. I have tried baking and can do it successfully, I just like the freedom of meal recipes so much more. I usually take 2-3 recipes and combine ingredients to make my own. I am not quite creative enough to just throw things together on my own. I still need to use recipes as a guideline.
My favorite family cooking traditions
My favorite would have to be when my sisters and I were young, my mom would let us each pick a day individually to skip school and bake Christmas cookies with her. It was a great bonding experience which sadly ended when we got into high school. To this day, I remember the thrill of playing hookey and licking the bowl until I got sick.
My cooking triumphs
My first Thanksgiving meal in 1999. I decided to create a new family tradition by hosting the meal at our home. In the past, we never had a set place to go. Now, everyone comes over and absolutely LOVES my meal and hospitality. Especailly a few of the recipes from this site!
My cooking tragedies
Well...I tried to make BBQ chicken in the slow cooker(to save time when I got home) not realizing the amount of sugar that is in BBQ sauce. By the time I got home 8 hrs later, the chicken was a burned mess. I had to go out to the store and get all new supplies and make it all over in the oven not saving me anytime at all. The meal was for my family that night so I got lots of advice on what I did wrong. Proudly, that is my only tragedy.
