About this Cook
I love to cook that's why I do it. It's a hobby of mine. I probably enjoying baking more than I do making dinner, but hey, I can't make cookies and cake all the time!
My favorite things to cook
My favourite things to cook would be anything sweet. I love making a cheater cheesecake recipe I have. That one is "to die for". I also make killer chocolate chip cookies. As for the savoury side of life, anything garlic is my general philosophy. If it doesn't have garlic it will when I'm done with it!
My favorite family cooking traditions
The rituals were fairly straight forward in my family. It was always turkey on Christmas and often at Thanksgiving as well. (Thanksgiving is earlier in Canada than in the US.) Ham always happened at Easter. Turkey was always served with mashed potatoes, mashed turnip, peas, gravy, and of course stuffing. And we always had Christmas Pudding for dessert. The ham always gets served with scalloped potatoes and veggies. At Thanksgiving the meal is the same as Christmas except dessert is Pumpkin pie!
My cooking triumphs
I think my biggest moment in the kitchen was the first year I made Thanksgiving dinner with the turkey and all the fixings. I suppose that probably had to be my greatest achievement in the kitchen considering the problems that some have trying to get a turkey to cook! And boy, was it good!!!
My cooking tragedies
Who doesn't goof once or twice when cooking? I've burned things, completely forgotten ingredients (that shouldn't have been forgotten) and done other such baking and cooking disasters. I call it life in the kitchen!

Breaded Pork Chops
These were good. I really like the breading. My pork chops were a little thicker and I ended up throwing the them in the oven for a bit to finish the cooking process. Not a big deal, it was already on for the scalloped potatoes. I also cooked it on more like medium heat verses medium high. On my stove medium high would have burned the breading. Good recipe.

Home-Style Scalloped Potatoes
Well I personally love scalloped potatoes and I made this for hubby tonight. He's very picky and complained there is no flavour. I added 4 cloves of garlic. He doesn't like cheese so I can't do that. I won't do bacon because I don't like that. Not sure what one can do to scalloped potatoes to give them more flavour and still keep to a more or less traditional dish. So anyway 4 stars, only cause of my very very very picky hubby.

To Die For Blueberry Muffins
These muffins are delicious. I love the topping. I did use brown sugar instead of white like other reviewers. I only have large muffin tins, I don't make anything small. So filling them to the top meant I only had 8 muffins. I think I'd rather 3/4 fill them and get a few extra muffins. That and it keeps them from flowing over the top as much. Also I found I didn't have enough liquid. The batter looked more like dough. I ended up adding some extra milk to get a better consistency. The muffins came out great, but I think a little more than 1/3 milk is necessary (at least in the Canadian climate I'm in). Overall though great recipe!!
