I am always learning new things about food. The internet and television are my biggest inspirations. Need a recipe? Search the net! Need Inspiration? Watch cooking shows from all around the world! Cook books are good as well and I usually buy a lot of books from Malaysia and sometimes Taiwan. Check out my food blogs at http://cookiemonzters.blogspot.com/
My favorite things to cook
I don't seem to have found a favourite yet as it changes everything I found a new ingredient or genre to work with. Currently I am very interested in Taiwanese light snacks such as Taiwanese Buns, Dumplings and other sorts of desserts. Will post some recipes when I have the time.
My favorite family cooking traditions
Traditionally coming from a Chinese background that lives in a community where Malays are the dominant culture, my family cooking background combines Chinese and Malay cuisine, blended in with some other South East Asian traditions. I'm different from my family as I went overseas and learned a lot of different techniques and ideas from the internet as well. I love fusion cuisine and I am always experimenting whenever I have the chance.
My cooking triumphs
My latest invention is my Coconut Avocado Ice Cream. My mum loves avocados and coconut - therefore a new ice cream is born!
My cooking tragedies
Overcooking a custard I spent almost 45 minutes whipping, measuring and preparing! Cracking a rotten egg (I should had cracked it into a bowl first!) into a noodle soup stock that took was cooked for almost 5 hours! My god! All the hard work! That's probably just some of them.
Tried to make Dragon Fruit Panna Cotta but ended up with a mush because I put too little gelatine :P
