I'm a 30 year old doctoral student. I also work and am planning my wedding, so I don't have as much time as I would like to cook. I would like to become more of a gourmet cook. My fiance asked me if we were going to have chicken breasts for dinner every night the rest of our lives. (I told him yes, because that was what I knew how to cook).
My favorite things to cook
Chicken Divan. Probably because it's my favorite thing to eat!
My favorite family cooking traditions
Quiche Lorainne on christmas morning. My mom trying to teach me how to make gravy every Thanksgiving "for when I cook Thanksgiving dinner".
My cooking triumphs
I had a basic recipe for chicken Quesadillas, and added mushrooms and shallots and bacon and it turned out fantastic. I was proud at being able to change a recipe.
My cooking tragedies
This horrible buffalo dip. The recipe called for 1/2 cup of hot sauce. I'm still in the "I usually always follow the recipe" phase of learning how to cook, and so I put it in. It was horrible. My fiance (who LOVES my cooking, and will usually eat anything I make) even said it was horrible.
