I am a Wife a Mom that loves to cook! My Husband always laughs at me just shakes his head when he says "what are you making now?!" I'm always trying some new recipe.I started cooking when I was about 12 yrs. old. My Mom used to make homemade bread every week (4 loaves a week!) that summer she had to go in the hospital for surgery. My Grandma lived with us at the time I guess she thought that was a good time to teach me how to make homemade bread so that's exactly what happened I've been cooking baking ever since! My kids are all grown up gone now, but I still like to make "care packages" for them they appreciate it so much. Even my stepson will call me up to find out if I have a recipe for this or that..he likes to cook sometimes, too! I think that's great. It makes me proud to know that I've passed on my love of cooking to my kids.
My favorite things to cook
Soups...any kind or variety. There's nothing more comforting than to sit down to a bowl of hot, steaming homemade soup on a cold wintry day. That is the true "comfort food". I also like to experiment with other foods. I'm always adding something to a recipe to see if it will improve it. I love to BBQ,also. In the summer, I like to sit out on my deck with a cold beer just watch the chicken or steaks cook on the grill. MMM..smells so good!
My favorite family cooking traditions
On Christmas Eve when I was a little girl, we used to go to Midnight Mass then come home eat my Mom's homemade tourtiere (French meat pie). I always looked forward to that. Now, on Christmas Day, my family comes here we cook prime rib. That's a good tradition, too, don't you think?
My cooking triumphs
I taught myself how to decorate cakes. Just started experimenting finally got it right! I mostly just did it for the family but they loved them. The one I was most proud of was the 3-tiered one that I did for my parents 50th wedding anniversary.Everybody thought it was beautiful which really made my day!
My cooking tragedies
Can't really say that I remember any (honest!). I know I've had a few recipes that just didn't taste very good..but tragic,no. The worst thing that I remember happening was one day when I was making breakfast, I cracked an egg in the pan it was a bad egg...I mean BAD! It stunk so bad that I threw out the egg along with the whole pan! In all my 40 yrs. of cooking, that's the ONLY time I've ever had a bad egg hope it's the last time!
