My cooking triumphs
Successfully cooked for 18 people as a silent auction item, which sold for $2,500.00. My brother put together a Wine-Taste/Tuscan Feast dinner and roped me into doing the "Feast" portion. It was my first time cooking for "paying clients" and I was a nervous wreck. Afterwards, people wanted my catering card! (I work in banking)
Took 1st place in a local chili cook-off. The thrill of getting that trophy (only about 8" tall) was enough to get me hooked!
My cooking tragedies
I have burnt dozens of loaves of garlic bread!
Not very good with desserts. Just don't have a baker's touch. (Probably because I am not a fan of sweets - but give me salt any day!)
I found out that Eggs Rolls CANNOT be made ahead of time and placed in the refrigerator (the wrappers stick together and make a gluey mess). I made them for a party and ended up tossing them in the trash. If you make them ahead, you need to freeze them to keep them separated. Then they fry up beautifully!
