I am a single dad, divorced in 2005. Never went in the kitchen before, except to microwave coffee. I started cooking for me and the kids and fell in love with it. We make our own salsa, because we go through SO MUCH of it, we made up a cool recipe and it keeps changing and getting better. Slow cooker things - roasts, chili, gumbo. Pizza on Friday nights and Mexican food for Christmas lunch! Christmas is stressful enough without having to do the huge feast - we do that on Thanksgiving, though. Full blown Thanksgiving dinner, with homemade stuffing (I've submitted the recipe). My first one came out pretty late, but good, then I learned timing a bit better. Amazingly...none. I fully expected to have a few things bomb and have to run to get fast food. But the things I do are fairly simple, and so far no failures! One time I did make a big batch of lovely gumbo for a party and left it out overnight, had to remake it in a rush the next morning, I guess you can count that!
