Creme de Menthe Bars

Reviewed: Dec. 13, 2009
I followed the suggestion of another reviewer and used a box mix of brownies (double chocolate) and made the icing and chocolate topping per the instructions. WOW! This is an amazing dessert- it's moist, decadent, and slices really easily for a pretty presentation. My creme de menthe liqueur was clear, so I added a few drops of green food coloring to make it festive. I will be making this again and again, and then again some more! Thank you so much Deirdre Dee!

Karyn's Cream of Crab Soup

Reviewed: Dec. 7, 2009
I followed the directions except for only using half the amount of Old Bay and tripling the sherry. Even using half the amount of Old Bay was still just a tad too much (and this is coming from a born and bred Marylander x 30+ years). Otherwise, we really enjoyed this! Very very easy and quick. Thanks for a fabulous recipe Karyn!

Broiled Tilapia Parmesan

I halved this recipe for a (very) quick weeknight dinner and it was absolutely perfect! So savory, cheesy, and rich. I'm making it again this week. Thanks for a great recipe!

After-Thanksgiving Turkey Soup

Reviewed: Nov. 30, 2009
Made this with my leftover turkey carcass and it came out perfectly! I made a few small changes based on previous reviews- 1/2 the amount of butter and flour and added extra veggies and a cup of frozen corn. Also added dried thyme, sage, and a bay leaf to the simmering stock. Next time I will use fat-free 1/2 and 1/2. My husband and I love this soup! Thanks for a great recipe!

Egg and Sausage Casserole

Reviewed: Nov. 29, 2009
I made this for a brunch and everybody seemed to enjoy it as there were few leftovers. It slices very cleanly from the pan (I followed prev. reviewer suggestions to bake crescent rolls for about 7min first before adding sausage, etc). However, I found it lacking something in the way of flavor. Perhaps using spicy or sage sausage next time will help? I'll definitely play around with this recipe again!

Jalapeno Popper Spread

Reviewed: Oct. 5, 2009
This is absolutely delicious! The suggestion from another reviewer to use panko bread crumbs mixed with the parm on top was perfect as it helped create a true, crunchy, "popper" feel. This is my new favorite dip recipe! Thanks Denise!

My family enjoyed this. It was simple to prepare (we doubled the recipe). I added oregano, salt, and garlic powder for add'l flavor. Would probably make again.

Pad Thai

Reviewed: Jun. 16, 2009
As written, there is not nearly enough sauce. I decided to triple the sauce per previous reviews, and also followed one reviewer's excellent advice (ErinJW?)and got my oil in the wok nice and hot, added the scallion and 4-5 cloves of fresh crushed garlic, and then added the chicken and eventually the noodles and sauce. We used limes instead of lemon, and rice vinegar. I also spiced it up w/ chili garlic sauce (sambal olaek). THEN it was delicious!

Good basic recipe. I made it exactly as written and enjoyed it, but agree that it does lend itself to some modifications with future preparations. Thanks for sharing!

Made it just as written and it was moist and delicious. Very easy recipe. I think I'll try adding jalapenos and cheddar next time.

DELICIOUS! So easy and comforting. I used some leftover potato hot dog buns that I needed to use up and cubed them. I followed the recipe to a T and it came out wonderfully! Thanks so much for a quick, easy, and economical recipe

It was very bland as is, but once I livened it up with oregano and garlic-herb seasoning it was better.

Cathy's Creamy Chicken Bake

A comforting and tasty dish. I found it a bit salty, but that may be my fault for using *gasp* cooking wine ;-) I think next time I'll add toasted slivered almonds...

Spicy Maryland Crab Dip

Reviewed: Nov. 28, 2008
The best crab dip I've ever made! I made some small adjustments based on previous reviews: 1 tbsp old bay was plenty, increased cheese to 2 cups, used a few extra tablespoons sour cream, and used a full 16oz of lump crabmeat. It was a huge hit at my work party and the pan disappeared pretty quickly. Thanks so much!

Prosciutto Wrapped Asparagus

Reviewed: Nov. 28, 2008
One of my all-time favorite appetizer recipes. So easy to make and I don't even measure the cheese anymore. I just spread it directly on the asparagus until I think the proscuitto will stick and quickly wrap. Delicious salty crunchy goodness!

Potato Pancakes II

Reviewed: Nov. 28, 2008
I followed the recipe pretty accurately, though I did have to substitute Italian blend shredded cheese for the cheddar. I found that if you dump the 1/4 cup potato mixture on the griddle and then try to flatten, it makes a mess sticking to the spatula. I ended up pressing them first, like you would a hamburger patty. The flavor was fine, as the leftover mashed potatoes were already seasoned w/ garlic, but the texture was still mushy/soft and not crispy. Not a bad tasting dish, but not exactly potato pancakes as I know them either. A bonus however: my picky one-year old loved them!
