i love to make bread, but i don't do it very often. i have two pre-school age boys who keep me very busy, but when i get the urge and the time i make some bread. my grandmother used to enlist the help of all those who joined us for thanksgiving dinner the day after to make "hard tack" candy. it was a hot, somewhat dangerous job, but if you helped you got to take home a bag of candy and you had some influence over the flavors made. i hope to resurect this tradition in the near future. i make the best gumbo ever and a really great pot roast too. i'm not great with baked goods that have to be decorated. they come out delicious but ugly.
