About this Cook
I have been married almost 29 years and have 2 sons aged 17 & 14. I like to be outdoors and since our summers are so short, we try to go hiking every weekend or visit friends on the farm. I love flowers, so my garden is a kaleidescope of color & variety, perennials being my personal favorites. I also love butterflies, so there are alot of butterfly favorites in the garden. This year we had an abundance of Monarchs & Swallowtails. My eldest son plays football, so from August to October our weekends are taken up with his games.
My favorite things to cook
Cheesecake, cheesecake & more cheesecake. I love cheesecake. I have become well known for them. I also love to experiment. Our boys will come home from school and I'll hear "oh oh, she's concocting again". There aren't very many leftovers in our house as they're transformed into something new the next day.
My favorite family cooking traditions
I don't really have any.
My cooking triumphs
The first time a pie crust turned out for me. Still working on that one though.
My cooking tragedies
When I had to make a trifle for a block party and the custard wouldn't set. It still tasted good, but watching the custard slosh around wasn't.

Grandma's Chocolate Zucchini Brownies
I made these yesterday in the late afternoon, in a couple of hours they were GONE!! My boys said they were good, but couldn't stop eating them, guess they were better than good.

Reheating Pasta
I agree, may as well cook fresh. Someone told me to just put your frozen or cold pasta in a colendar, boil water in the kettle and pour it over. Works like a charm and it steaming hot.

Blueberry Oat Bars
These were really, really good! My eldest son is a blueberry fiend, and must have had 3 helpings before dinner. Needless to say there wasn't much left by the end of the night. The only thing I did differently is to use 4 cups of berries, I had frozen and they worked fine. Will definitely make again & again. I already have requests for the recipe.
