Sunshine Sunflower
About this Cook
Just a note about the Sunflower pic. I planted one seed last summer and this flower grew past the roof top :) A neighbor stopped by while I was out watering and she said "you must dig that "Dragon Flower" up, it will break your pipes" :)
My favorite things to cook
Grillin' and Chillin'...Ribs, chicken, veggies Stovetop & Crockpot...anything Cajon...Shrimp Boil, Chicken Creole Baking...Cakes, Cookies...They call me Betty Crocker at work :)
My favorite family cooking traditions
I've been cooking forever! My Mother was a single parent and since she wasn't a very good cook (Curried Chicken, hotdogs & kraut)someone had to feed me and my younger sister :) Wonderful memories but no curry or kraut here and cherish my Rice Cooker!
My cooking triumphs
Taking a basic recipe and making it better...growing fresh herbs...always have homemade Doggie treats for our "baby".
My cooking tragedies
Smoking a $40 prime rib and forgot about it until it was too late...came out as beef jerky! Homemade pizza dough for a party..YUK!...had to call for delivery after this "experiment".

Homestyle Turkey, the Michigander Way
This turned out perfect for dinner yesterday! Based every hour with the juices and butter under the skin is the secret. Moving on to search for turkey left-over recipes now :)

Grandma's Corn Bread Dressing
Never made corn bread dressing (always bread based) but DH wished to have it with the turkey yesterday! He was right (for once) :) This was delicious and turned out perfect, but decreased the sage as others stated...definitely a keeper!

Mom's Cucumber Salad
Was looking for a cucumber salad recipe other than the normal vinegar based type. This is it!! Deseeding them and soaking & setting helps with the texture. Then drain well with paper towels. Added 1/4 c. sweet white onion slices and halved the sugar as others stated. Using a good quality Mayo is a must! Thanks for the recipe; it's definitely a keeper!!
