Sloppy Joes II

Reviewed: Jan. 11, 2008
I'm only giving this three stars because I had to do quite a bit of tweaking to get it right for my taste. As a base for making sloppy joes your 'own' (without the help of Manwich) it's okay. It was a little too dry and crumbly for my family. Since first using this recipe, I double it now and I actually use one can of Manwich (can't believe I'm admitting that) just for the sloppy factor and then add ketchup, mustard, brown sugar, etc. (The brown sugar is the key to this recipe, so whatever changes you make, don't skip the sugar, if anything add a little more!)

Pecan Pie V

Reviewed: Jan. 11, 2008
This was my first try at making a pecan pie, and it was terrific. I didn't want the hassle of having to go out and buy special syrup, etc., just to make one pie and was very happy with the result. It was super easy to make and was super yummy too! Thank you for sharing with us!

Mrs. Sigg's Peanut Butter Cookies

Reviewed: Jul. 9, 2005
Wonderfully light and fluffy! Before this recipe, I had always found peanut butter cookies a bit boring, but these were terrific. (I added half a bag of white chocolate chips to mine.) Keep a close eye on them the last couple minutes of baking though, don't want those bottoms to get too dark! The finished cookies are worth 'babysitting' the oven for.

Streusel Apple Coffeecake

Reviewed: Jul. 9, 2005
Not only was this the best coffee cake I've made, but the best I've tasted! What a wonderful recipe! I love all the streusel! Usually, I end up straying from recipes a bit, but this one's perfect just as it is. After reading some of the reviews I was a bit worried, but I had no trouble with getting it all to fit into my bundt, as others did. Thanks so much for sharing!

Baked Pork Chops II

Reviewed: Feb. 9, 2005
I am always a little nervous when it comes to pork chops, since they like to dry out on me so often... But, this recipe was great! I was a little skeptical about all the liquid (afraid it would dry out the chops), but it was great with some pasta to soak it up! The chops were actually moist and even my father-in-law, who is the world's worst critic when it comes to dinner enjoyed them! Thanks so much!

Seven Layer Dip II

Exactly what I was looking for! It was a hit at both the Super Bowl party and New Year's party! Shared the recipe with many already. I could eat this for dinner, I loved it!

Slow Cooker Italian Beef

Reviewed: Oct. 25, 2004
I've made this recipe many times and it is wonderful! It seems to turn out differently each time though (I think it's the beef). It actually turned out the best when I used a small slow cooker, I was so worried because I was throwing a party and was using my big one for meatballs and my friend brought this tiny crock pot for the Italian beef. I couldn't believe how great it turned out in that puny (sp?) thing. I think having everything kind of cramped together helped the beef to really absorb the flavor of the seasoning and the peppers. (I do add a little bit of the pepper juice each time too.) Thanks so much for sharing your recipe!

Apple Strudel Muffins

Reviewed: Oct. 25, 2004
Delicious! These came out super moist and made the whole house smell terrific while baking. I added a little extra apples and some cinnamon to the batter for extra "apple cinnamon" flavor. Thanks so much for sharing your recipe!

Chocolate Peanut Butter Fudge

Reviewed: Jan. 6, 2003
What exactly is a "soft ball" stage? I guess I figured it out well enough for a first time fudge maker. It turned out delicious and creamy, and it was so easy to make too! Perfect to satisfy that chocolate craving! My husband who is not a big chocolate fan even liked it! Thanks for sharing your recipe, will definitely make again.

Autumn Muffins

Reviewed: Oct. 17, 2002
At first I was a little hesitant about all the different things that go into these (the figs especially), but my husband and I loved them! They were very tasty, moist and fragrant. They definitely capture what I'd think autumn may taste like, if it were a food itself. Will definitely make again. Thank you!

Italian Wedding Soup I

Reviewed: Sep. 29, 2002
YUM,YUM,YUM! I love soup, especially Italian Wedding Soup. This recipe is fantastic. My only problem was that the orzo completely took over the pot by the time myself, honey and guests were scooping out our seconds (and thirds). I doubled the recipe and the four of us didn't leave a drop left in the pot! Will definitely be making again, and again, and again... Thanks so much for sharing!

Grandma's Homemade Italian Sauce and Meatballs

Reviewed: Sep. 29, 2002
This recipe was good, but not the perfect meatballs I have been searching a LONG time for.(I'm pretty picky about my meatballs ;) Actually, I think that all they need is a little more garlic. I must say that they did taste their best the next day and then the next day after that, as most do. I will be trying them again with just a wee bit of modification to "Jess-ize" them. Thank you for sharing...

Italian Meatballs

WAY to much on the seasonings! While it was cooking it smelled like a bad veggie burger. I love Italian seasonings, but this was a little overboard. I learned my lesson in trying new things.
