Traditional Mashed Potatoes

Reviewed: Dec. 22, 2009
Great simple mashed potatoes! I cut the potatoes fairly small (1 inch cubes) and cooked 20 minutes. Came out perfect!

Slow-Cooked German Short Ribs

Reviewed: Dec. 22, 2009
This was great! I only used 1/2 of the brown sugar but otherwise made it as directed (and doubled the sauce). I gave it 4 stars instead of 5 because the ribs were a tad dry. I cooked it 8 hours, but next time I'll try 7 hours. I served with mashed potatoes and roasted carrots - yum!

Slow Cooker Latin Chicken

This was very good and easy. I think it could use a little more flavor. Next time I'll experiment with more spices or a different salsa.

Rempel Family Meatloaf

Reviewed: Mar. 2, 2009
I've tried several meatloaf recipes, and this one is a keeper. Instead of using a loaf pan, I just shaped it into a loaf and baked it on a slotted pan (so the grease could come out). The meatloaf didn't hold together too well, but maybe that's because of how I baked it. I used a glaze of 1/2 cup ketchup, 1/4 cup brown sugar, 1 tsp mustard powder, and a little nutmeg. I'll definitely make again!

Cream of Celery Soup

Reviewed: Oct. 29, 2008
I used an immersion blender to just puree the vegetables directly in the pot. Without keeping the vegetables in, it seems like it would just be celery-flavored milk! The flavor was good, but I prefer my creamy soups to be a little thicker. I will probably make again though.

Awesome Slow Cooker Pot Roast

Reviewed: Sep. 26, 2008
This was so good! I made some changes based on other reviews. I seasoned the roast with garlic powder, rosemary, and flour, and then seared in olive oil before putting it into the slow cooker. I used one can of cream of mushroom and one cream of celery. I replaced 1/2 cup of the water with red wine and added a few splashes of worstershire. I only used a 3-lb roast and cooked for 8 hours. It was so moist and tender. I will definitely make again!

Avocado and Tomato Salad

Reviewed: Apr. 17, 2008
Simple but great! I just used balsamic vinegar and olive oil, and also added a little cilantro since I was serving it with Mexican food. Will definitely make again!

Sarge's EZ Pulled Pork BBQ

Reviewed: Mar. 10, 2008
So easy and turned out perfect! I rubbed paprika on the pork before cooking as another reviewer suggested. I cooked about 7 hours. The texture was great and I'll definitely make again!

Awesome and Easy Creamy Corn Casserole

Reviewed: Mar. 10, 2008
This was super easy and tasted great. It was very moist and bread-y. I could use a little more corn though. Next time I'll probably add an additional small can of corn.

Cauliflower-Cheese Soup

Reviewed: Jan. 2, 2008
This was great! I just made it to get me through a cold night. The only modifications were to mash the vegetables a little before combining with the milk. I also doubled the cheese and served with fresh parsley. I'll definitely make again!

Amazing Pork Tenderloin in the Slow Cooker

Reviewed: Jan. 2, 2008
Sorry, just didn't work for me! I followed the recipe exactly, and found it to be extremely dry. The flavor was okay, but a little bland. The pork was a gray/brown color which I also didn't think was very appetizing.

I dropped this at a friends house after she had a baby (and made some for myself too). We both loved it! I made it exactly as directed.

We've made this SO many times, especially for company becasue the presentation is so nice. I don't like mushrooms, so we substitute red peppers. It goes nicely with the other items.

This was good and easy. I think I'm just not a huge fan of honey mustard, but if I was looking for this type of recipe, I'd use it again.

Home Style Macaroni and Cheese

Reviewed: Jul. 19, 2007
This was great! I used a medium-sized shell pasta, because when I use elbow macaroni it tends to get too soggy. I also omitted the bread crumbs. This was more like a pasta with a sharp cheddar sauce. I will definitely make it again.

Dip For The Stars

Reviewed: Jul. 19, 2007
I made this for a girls group, and it was a big hit! I followed the directions exactly. The vermouth really makes a difference. I used sundried tomatoes in oil, and would definitely make more of an effort to drain them next time.

Garlic Red Potatoes

I guess I should have read the reviews first because 40 minutes on 350 was definitely not long enough. I had to add about 25 minutes. Flavor was very good though. I'll definitely make again.

Baked Pork Chops I

Reviewed: Jan. 21, 2007
We loved this recipe - we even made it 2 weeks in a row! I did think they came out a little dry, so the second time I reduced the cook time by 15 minutes. I also used cream of celery soup and browning seasoning. I love the taste of the wine in the gravy - served it over rice.

Butternut Squash Soup

This soup is awesome - we've been making it for years! We now substitute frozen butternut squash. It's so much easier and you can't taste the difference.
