Baked Ham

Reviewed: Dec. 23, 2009
This was really good.I trimmed alot of the fat off and scored it and studed it with cloves . I like the flavor. Then i packed brown sugar on the ham. I used enough pepsi to cover the ham when the air was squeezed out of the bag. I also put in a single size serving can of pineapple juice. Smelled great. I just didnt think it looked all that appealing but it tasted good. It may have been because I trimmed it. But it had a thick rind on it and i just wanted it gone. I will use this recipe again cause it was simple.

Country Fried Steak and Milk Gravy

Reviewed: Jan. 20, 2009
I have been making this recipe forever. I have been eating it since i was a child.I sprinkle a little garlic and pepper on the cube steak and drege in flour. I use no egg. Cube steak is a little plain but the gravy makes it wonderful.I use some canola oil, just as much as i need at a time, add more between batches if the steaks soak it up.You wanna see the browned bits in the pan that is what makes the gravy. Usually I have no oil to take off. Also if I have a lot of browned bits, I will take them out of the pan and set aside, so they dont burn. I put them back in when making the gravy. Hope this helps. Rose

Classic Macaroni Salad

Reviewed: Dec. 30, 2008
This was pretty good, I used 1/4C. sugar and it was plenty sweet, I cant see using any more than that.Did not use pimentos, didnt have any. I like that it wasnt just mayonaise,It always seems so greasy to me when using mayo only. The dressing was soaked up into the macaroni, but I liked it a little dryer, and it still had some moistness in it. Also I used celery seed, I just had to in macaroni salad.

Rempel Family Meatloaf

Reviewed: Nov. 23, 2008
Sorry, but I really didnt like this. And I love meatloaf. I have never rated a recipe badly either. It was quick and easy to make and it had great ratings so I thought it would be good. It just tasted like a lipton onion burger, the kind we ate when we were kids. If you love lipton onion burgers, try this.

Dutch Babies II

Reviewed: Apr. 1, 2008
This was really good.I didnt cook mine quite long enough, but I liked it anyway. Heat the pan first alone with no butter, get it smokin hot the hotter the better it makes it rise. I sprinkled lemon and powdered sugar to finish it off.Didnt need any more butter. This is the same as Yorkshire pudding which you would use meat drippings from prime rib instead of butter. It was your bread with your meal.I love that stuff.

Spicy Bean Salsa

Reviewed: Mar. 2, 2007
This was great, i used light italian, fresh garlic, canned tomatoes. I added some cumin and a touch of chili powder. The cumin changes the flavor, helps to hide that italian dressing taste.I used a whole chopped fresh jalapeno and some green bell.I started eating this right away but it had that raw onion taste, I put it in the fridge overnight, and was eating it again at breakfast. Hope the family likes it so I dont eat it all! Thanks.

Broccoli and Sausage Cavatelli

Reviewed: Mar. 15, 2006
This is simple and really good. I used Hatfield Ital. Sausage, take it out of its casing, fry it like ground beef, adding onions, red pepper, and garlic halfway through cooking time. There was no fat i was surprised.I added a little olive oil. I boil the cavatelli, adding broccoli florets for the last few min of cooking time with pasta. I like the broccoli crisp . Then i drained it and threw it in the pan with the sausage. Salt, pepper and alot of fresh grated parm Its simplicity at its best.

Italian Sausage Soup with Tortellini

Reviewed: Oct. 31, 2005
This was really good and simple. I used no water, all beef broth, really big can.(Cheap) I also used one large can of progresso fire roasted diced tomatoes with the juice. So i didnt use the tomato sauce. I didnt use fresh basil, but I will next time. It was still delish. No red wine either, wouldn't know what to buy.I used frozen tortellini. I cooked them before adding to the soup. So I guess it was more than the 8 oz. It was still wonderful. Thanks

Poured juices into saucepan and reduced them. Made them seem thicker and more flavorful. Will make again. Thanks.

Basic Yankee Bread Stuffing

Reviewed: Feb. 9, 2005
I really liked this, I thought it had good flavor.I am going to use this as my recipe from now on. I froze the bread first and then sliced it frozen into cubes with a serrated knife. Very easy. Let the bread sit out overnight, tossed it to get it stale. Like the cubes in the bags but much cheaper--Use any old cheap sandwich bread. Thanks.
