My Husband's Birthday Cake
Kristina
About this Cook
I'm 43 and have two boys..they're already grown and out of the house. Baking is my passion and with the boys gone I wind up baking for coworkers and friends as well as my husband. Playing games on Pogo.com could be called my other passion! When I'm not in the kitchen I can usually be found on Pogo playing under the name eBuzzes.
My favorite things to cook
Cakes....love to bake and decorate cakes. I've recently begun working on perfecting my pie skills as well.
My favorite family cooking traditions
My mother was a dedicated Southern cook..everything was cooked in lots of butter and fat. She refused to teach me how to cook though because she didn't want me underfoot. I've started my own traditions baking with my boys when they were little and now my nieces. Holidays are of course a big deal for us and some cookies get baked year after year.
My cooking triumphs
My nieces would tell you it's the special brunches we've made. Their favorite is the "square food brunch"..everything was made in square pans and of course all the recipes came from Allrecipes. My own personal triumphs are the cakes that came out not only beautifully decorated but perfectly moist and flavorful.
My cooking tragedies
Can you say Bundt pan? LOL Any Bundt pan cake is a challenge for me. No matter what I do the cakes tend to stick to the pan and fall apart at least half the time. I even tried one of those new silicone Bundt pans and as you can imagine, it stuck to the "guaranteed not to stick" pan and fell apart.

Banana Cupcakes
These turned out well, but didn't have enough of the banana flavor I was hoping for and were a little too dry.

Joey's Peanut Butter Cookies
Absolutely delicious and I wouldn't change a thing! I made these for my coffee shop customers and they all agreed that these are the best peanut butter cookies they've ever had. These cookies have a more intense peanut butter flavor and they turn out soft and chewy. I do recommend that you not leave them in the oven too long for fear that they haven't finished baking. I left them in for the max amount of recommended time and they turned out perfect. They didn't look like they were done, but I followed the instructions and was pleasantly surprised.

Peanut Butter Cup Cookies
Exceptionally good recipe..easy to make, tasted great and went over like gangbusters at a recent bake sale. I didn't change a thing with the recipe and did use the small muffin tins as suggested.
