Dark Chocolate Cake I
Used this recipe for the top of my daughter's princess castle cake (bottom was David's yellow cake). I have baked store bought and from scratch chocolate cake many times, but this is fantastic! At least I know what's going into the cake and it's from my own pantry. I loved how this cake turned out! Just the right amount of chocolate. My daughter is a chocolate lover (just like mom). Followed the recipe, and the end result was a moist, just enough sweetness, and delicious chocolate cake. I baked the cake for 35 mins (older oven) and turned out fine. I used a stick to pierce middle of cake around 30 mins time, and came out unclean, so baked for another 5 mins. The recipe is easy to follow. I decorated castle cake with buttercream frosting. I will continue to use recipe and recommend to friends. I post post pic of cake soon. Thanks for recipe.

David's Yellow Cake
I made this cake for my daughter's 5th birthday. She asked for a castle cake. This recipe calls for a lot of egg yolks but now I know the reason. It's quite a delicious and moist cake. I doubled the recipe (used this cake for the castle base) and used 9 x 13" pan. The cake turned out well but I have to remember to invert cake onto a cake board instead of cooling rack as cake broke apart a bit. Not to worry though, easy to fix with icing. I didn't find the cake to be dry, a bit dense but just what I needed. You need to make sure to follow recipe and when cake top springs back or stick inserted to middle of cake comes out clean (this is what I did) remove from oven (prevents dry cake). Definitely better than store bought, packed yellow cake. I will use this recipe again. My daughter thinks this cake is very yummy and she knows cake!

Rocky Road Bars
I don't know what I did wrong! The bars were bland except for the extreme sweetness of marshmallows and chocolate on top. Will need to try out another RR bar recipe, haven't given up yet!
