About this Cook
I guess I just like feeding other people. It makes me feel like I'm taking care of them. . . and I like to see their smiles when I make something they like.
My favorite things to cook
I love making cookies! I have an awesome PB choc chip and snickerdoodle cookie recipe and have finally perfected my chocolate chip recipe! I usually bake on weeknights when I'm bored and my coworkers love it. They tell me I should be "bored" at least one night a week.
My favorite family cooking traditions
My parents didn't really cook much. Growing up, we knew dinner was ready when the smoke alarm was going off and we referred to my mom's hamburgers as hockey pucks.
My cooking triumphs
I volunteered to cook the Thanksgiving turkey a few years back and since then my mom makes me come over early to get the turkey in. My siblings were shocked the first year because the turkey was so moist (not as dry as mom's). Mom fessed up and said that I made it for her. . . The only thing dad didn't like was that we ate all of HIS leftovers. . . there was nothing left!
My cooking tragedies
Oh, I tried to make coconut shrimp. . . It is so important to have a thermometer in your oil! I dropped in a shrimp and it immediately turned black and started smoking. The whole house started filling with smoke! I had to open the door and windows to get the smoke detectors to shut off. Luckily no one else was home. . . this will be our little secret!

Mrs. Sigg's Snickerdoodles
Some of the best snickerdoodles out there! I've been using this recipe for about 5 years and always recieve great reviews. I usually only use about 1/4c shortening and 3/4c butter. I add a little extra cinnamon and vanilla to the dough, too.

Jalapeno Popper Spread
Yum! We served this at New Year's eve and our guests loved it. I used a 4oz can of chiles and 2 whole jalapenos (without the seeds). Next time, I will be sure to add extra jalapenos and some of the seeds to spice things up. I also mixed about 1/2 cup of parmesan into the mixture (I didn't read the recipe close enough and just started mixing). This will become a staple at all of our parties!

Taco Seasoning I
This is a great replacement for store bought seasoning. It's fun to try different ground chili powders to get different levels of heat and flavor. Try a mix of ground ancho and chipotle chili powder in place of the generic "chili powder" concoction.
