Cream of Cauliflower Soup II

Reviewed: Sep. 26, 2008
This was wonderful. I added a stock of lemon grass while cooking and removed it before blending. The lemongrass gave it a nice Thai-punch. I also left some chunks of cauliflower for texture. It is going to be one of our favorites! Thank you.

Thai Barbeque Marinade

Reviewed: Aug. 27, 2008
I used this marinade for fried fish. I eliminated the sesame oil, but added a bit of grated lime peel and lemon grass. I used half to marinade the fish and half to spoon over the fish after it was cooked. Before serving the sauce, I added a few sliced green onions, hot peppers and grated carrots. Everyone loved it! Thank you.

Sweet Banana Bread

This is a very moist, flavourful banana bread. I used butter instead of shortening with good results. Thank you.

Soft, Moist and Gooey Cinnamon Buns

Reviewed: Dec. 9, 2007
This recipe has taken over as the ONLY Cinnamon Bun recipe I now use! Make sure not to leave out the pudding mix - it makes a difference in the flavor. I use my bread machine to mix the dough, so it is a very easy, delicious treat. Thank you.

Crispy Fish Fillets

Reviewed: Apr. 16, 2007
Looking at the reviews, I was expecting a better tasting dish. This tasted like potato flakes and the mustard gave it a slightly bitter flavour. Not a hit.

Broiled Tilapia Parmesan

Reviewed: Mar. 4, 2007
This got great reviews, but my family didn't enjoy it. I used frozen fillets which I thawed, but they got watery. The parmesan was very salty. It looked great but no one enjoyed eatting it.

Wonton Soup

Reviewed: Feb. 26, 2007
I was a bit intimidated at the thought of making this, but it was a huge hit. I've made it several times since and I freeze the wontons on a cookie sheet and transfer them to a zip-lock bag. When making the broth, I cook the wontons first, otherwise the soup thickens. Also, use cubed or canned broth. The powdered broth is a bit slimey.

Oatmeal Raisin Cookies IV

Reviewed: Oct. 8, 2006
These are excellent! The first time I made them, I soaked them too long (hours) and some of the flavor left the raisins. Other recipies suggest bringing the raisins to a boil, but that adds too much liquid. These were great for taste and texture. A real keeper - Thank you.

Lemon Broccoli Fish

Reviewed: May 24, 2006
Thank you for this recipe. I would have given it 5 stars, but the broccoli got a bit watery and it made the sauce quite thin. I made some changes. I fried some onions in butter and layered it on the bottom of a baking dish. I steamed the broccoli slightly before rolling it in the fish fillets. Instead of Velveta, I made a thick cheese sauce and poured it over top and baked it @ 350 for 20 min. I will make it for company because it is an easy dish to prepare ahead.

This filling is great. I used a l lb package of cole slaw mix in place of the cabbage/carrots/onions. I doubled the oyster sauce, ginger and garlic. Very good.

Cappuccino in a Jar

Reviewed: Mar. 25, 2006
This was excellent. I liked the suggestion of blending the coffee so it is finer. I tried it with skim milk powder instead of the creamer and decaffinated coffee and it tastes great.

Friendship Soup Mix in a Jar

Reviewed: Mar. 25, 2006
I made this up and gave it out in jars. It was very pretty and it tastes great. For my taste, I would decrease the barley and use tomato sauce in place of the tomatoes and paste.

One Hundred Thousand Calorie Bars

These were WONDERFUL! I agree with most readers, that the cooking time should be increased. Also, next time I bake it I plan on decreasing the butter by 1/4C as I always feel guilty baking such a decadent treat.

Buffalo Chicken Wings I

These were tasty. I liked the zip of vinegar. I found we had to eat them right away as they lost there crispness when they sat. I am still looking for a healther/baked version of Buffalo wing.

The Ultimate Chocolate Bar

My kids really liked this. One usually will not eat nuts in baking, but liked these. The only downside to this recipe is that it is time consuming. For a quicker version of a similar bar, try GOOEY BARS, which I also found on this website.

Little Meat Loaves

Reviewed: Jun. 23, 2004
Good texture - good flavour. I used fresh bread crumbs instead of the crackers. The sauce was a bit too sweet for my taste. If I were to make it again I would reduce the brown sugar or add a Tbsp of vinegar to cut the sweetness. Thank you for the recipe!

Mulligatawny Soup II

Reviewed: Apr. 19, 2004
This was very tasty and easy to make. I added a cup of cooked rice after it was finished, to add texture. I can see how cooked chicken would be good too. If I were to make it again, I would add more broth and less lentils. As it is, it seems more like pea soup than any mulligatawny I've had before. Still, the flavor is wonderful.

Beezie's Black Bean Soup

Reviewed: Apr. 7, 2004
I read the reviews for this soup and could hardly wait to make it, but upon making it, I found it medicore. It was fine, but not wonderful. Also a hint for the cook that found her beans were hard. All beans must be cooked to the soft stage before adding any acid (tomato, vinegar, molasses). Once the acidic food is added, the beans will no longer soften, no matter how long they are cooked.
