This cake looks good and we did a homemade cake version for Fourth of July, but why call this a "shortcake" when it's just a yellow cake mix?

This is one of my favorite recipes. My mom used to make it and its especially good chilled the next day. I tried it this way, with the topping added before baking, and it was good, but i like it a little better if it's added halfway through so it stays crunchy on top. excellent recipe!!

I thought this recipe might be the same as my mom's, and since she was out of town I tried it. It was okay but not as good. first of all, there is way too much peanut butter mixture and not enough crust in my opinion. what my mom does with her bars, is to spread the peanut butter on first, then melt all the chips on top and run a knife back and forth alternately lightly through it.
