I have four beautiful children and a wonderful husband who loves to cook with me! I have a mental illness called Bipolar Disorder and I'm not ashamed! The organ in my body that doesn't work right is my brain. My dad's, is his heart. My niece's, are her kidneys. An organ is an organ and we need to treat mental illness the same way we do Diabetes or a heart condition. As you can see I am an advocate for Mental Illness Awareness. Now that you know, you became part of the 20 percent in the world that do. I still have 80 percent to go. Cooking on my good days, makes me feel like I'm accomplishing something. And having my husband by me cooking, helps me even more!
My favorite things to cook
Steaks, roasts, stir-fry, casseroles, cakes, quiches, anything new.
My favorite family cooking traditions
My husband and I are making our own family traditions. We have the traditional turkey on Thanksgiving Day, but are working on the traditions for the rest of the holidays.
My cooking triumphs
My cooking triumph is whenever my children look at me and say "Mom, this is awesome!" That's all I need.
My cooking tragedies
Some of the cookies I've tried to bake have been tragic!I mean... SMOKE DETECTOR TRAGIC!!!! You know it's bad when your own kids try to make you feel better, but won't touch the cookie! My five year old even asked her teacher for the recipe of her cookies she made for a class party. OUCH!
