Blueberry Cream Cheese Pound Cake II

Reviewed: Apr. 6, 2009
I made this pound cake for a baby shower I was throwing this weekend and it was a hit. Everyone raved about it. The only thing I changed was that I accidentally got blueberry pie filling instead of the blueberries in juice. I just used all of the pie filling and it came out great. We didn't make the glaze as it was too much to do during the baby shower and everyone loved it anyway. I would defintely make this again...might get requests at the next family get-together.

Broiled Tilapia Parmesan

Reviewed: Oct. 28, 2008
I made this last night for dinner and it came out really good. I changed the recipe a little bit. I used the fat free squeeze butter instead of real butter, used low fat parm cheese and used regular salt instead of the celery salt. The sauce came out great and was even good as leftovers. I made with mashed potatoes and green beans.

Mother-in-Law's Chops

Reviewed: Oct. 20, 2008
My family and I loved this recipe. The pork had a great flavor and was very tender after cooking for 2 hrs. I served it with mashed potatoes and green beans. The best thing is that this recipe only rates as 4 points on a Weight Watchers scale. Highly recommended.

Chantal's New York Cheesecake

Reviewed: Apr. 18, 2008
This cheesecake came out very good. I made it for a friends b-day at work and have gotten rave reviews so far. I did things a bit differently. I did use a water bath and unfortunately, although I covered the pan with foil some water seeped into the crust so it was a bit soggy. I cooked the cheesecake for an hour and then left it in the oven for 2 hours, left it on the counter for 1 hour and then put it in the fridge. Unfortunately there was a huge crack right down the center of my cake anyway. I'll have to figure out how to stop that, trial and error is the only option I guess. This was my very first cheesecake and was really a success especially with the good reviews I got from friends. Will definitely make this again.

Chicken, Stuffing and Green Bean Casserole

Reviewed: Apr. 14, 2008
I have been making this recipe for years. I have loved it every time. My husband likes it as well. I have changed it just a tad bit and normally add a little bit of milk and light sour cream to the cream of chicken soup. This makes it a little bit creamier then normal. very good

Spicy Rapid Roast Chicken

Reviewed: Mar. 26, 2008
This chicken was okay. The skin and seasoning was really good, I doubled it as most people suggested and rubbed the seasonings under and over the skin. I had a 4 pound chicken, cooked it for the recommended time and the white meat was dry and flavorless. My husband really liked it but I have a thing about dry chicken. The legs, thighs and wings were really good though which is why I am giving it 4 stars. I also didn't experience any smoking as others reviews wrote.

Baked Asparagus with Balsamic Butter Sauce

Reviewed: Mar. 25, 2008
This was awesome. I really had my doubts about this recipe as it just didn't seem like the sauce would compliment asparagus. Boy was I wrong. I made this for easter dinner and everyone raved about it. I switched the balsamic vinegar and soy sauce amounts as other suggested and browned the butter and it was so good. I am actually going to make it again tonight. Everyone wants me to make this for every holiday now. 12 minutes was the perfect cooking time as the asparagus was not mushy and not hard...it was firm but tender. Fantastic recipe

Juicy Butt Steaks

Reviewed: Oct. 29, 2007
I posted this recipe a while ago....after reading everyone's reviews we decided to try cooking this in our crock pot. I had never thought about it before and would only make this when I was home for most of the day. It really worked out well. We cooked it for about 4 hours on low and then put it on high and cooked for another 2 and a half. It was tender and delish but I think it could have been a little more tender so next time I will cook on low all day about 8 to 10 hours. Everyone really loved it...even my mom who taught me how to make this thought the crock pot was a great idea.

Red Skinned Potato Salad

Reviewed: Sep. 4, 2007
This potato salad came out great. I made it for a work BBQ and I only had a little leftovers. My husband, who ate the leftovers said it was great. I did change some things. I doubled the recipe. I omitted the bacon, used green onions instead of regular onion, added paprika, only used half the mayo and used yellow mustard to taste. The only thing I would change is I would cook the potatoes a little bit longer. The smaller potatoes were perfect but the larger ones were still a little hard in the middle. Next time I will cut them in half before boiling and cook maybe a few minutes longer. Also, make sure you wait till the potatoes are cold before you cube them, it works much better that way.

Jenn's Out Of This World Spaghetti and Meatballs

Reviewed: Jun. 10, 2007
This was fantastic. I actually made many changes. I didn't make the sauce and just used the recipe for the meatballs. I made a pot of sauce (combination of store-bought jars)and I mixed the meatballs and made them into 2 inch balls. I baked them at 350 for 20 minutes. If you decide to do this do it in a casserole dish and not on a cookie sheet. The grease from the ground beef dribbled into the bottom of my oven and was a mess. After baking them I put them in the sauce and added sweet italian sausage cut up into pieces. I brought it to a boil and then simmered for about an hour and a half. It was delish. My family raved about the whole meal especially the meatballs. I served it with wheat pasta and garlic bread. Very good.

Manicotti Alla Romana

Reviewed: Jun. 7, 2007
This recipe was fantastic. I've made it twice so far. I made it recently for our wedding anniversary and my husband raved about it. He said it was much better then going out to dinner and we had lots of leftovers. The filling ended up making about 21 manicotti. I used 1/2 Italian sausage and 1/2 ground beef as others suggested. It came out great. Will definitely make again.

Poblano Chile Pepper Soup

Reviewed: May 31, 2007
Didn't have much flavor and was way to thick. My husband is from mexico and he said it wasn't a soup, it was a sauce. He thought it was really hot although I didn't think so. It was a little spicy but not too bad. It was fine for me as a soup I just thought it lacked some flavor. I will take some suggestions of the other reviewers and see what I can do with it.

Grandma's Favorite Chicken

Reviewed: Mar. 20, 2007
I discovered something about this recipe. While making it for guests who were late I left this in the oven covered with the oven turned off. It probably sat for about 1/2 hour to an hour and when we ate it was falling off the bone. My guests raved about it the entire meal. This is not necessary of course but will make the dish even better. I also noticed that one important part of the recipe was left out....you need to leave the skin on the chicken. I just realized it's not specified in the recipe. That may be while some reviews say it is lacking flavor. Sorry.

Stuffed Green Peppers I

Reviewed: Feb. 14, 2007
I have been making this recipe for about 6 years and I absolutely love it. I've served it to many family members who rave every time. I now use ground chicken and brown rice and use diced tomatoes instead of whole ones. I also really never put in the worceshire sauce, I always forget but it doesn't make too much of a difference so I just leave it out. I add garlic and always add salt, pepper and garlic powder to the tomato soup to give it some extra flavor. Great served with mashed potatoes.

Rugelach

Reviewed: Dec. 21, 2006
I have never had Rugelach before...actually I don't even know how to pronounce it but it's fantastic. I did change the recipe a little. I don't have a food processor so I used my kitchenaid mixer and a pastry cutter to make the dough. It took a little while but it worked. One thing I learned is that you really have to flour your surface and the rolling pin before you try to roll out the dough. It was hard for me to roll mine because the wedges stuck to the wax paper. I still have 3 more disks to roll out so I will know how to do it tonight. For my filling I used sugar-free apricot preservatives, sprinkled it with some brown sugar, then put about 1/4 of a cup of white sugar and 1/2 a tbsp of cinnamon. I added raisins to top it off. Baking them for 22 minutes was perfect. When I make the rest of mine tonight I think I will chop up the raisins so they fit better. Besides that I don't think I am going to change a thing. I wasn't sure how the dough would come out...it was light and flaky. My brother-in-law thought it was a french recipe because it was similar to a croissant. He was surprised I had made it from scratch. This recipe is awesome. It's a little time consuming but totally worth it in the end. Thanks for the recipe. **I brought these for dessert at Christmas dinner and my father couldn't believe I had made these, he was really shocked. He loved them. **

Best Big, Fat, Chewy Chocolate Chip Cookie

these cookies came out fantastic! I followed the recipe exactly only I used milk chocolate chips instead of semi-sweeet chips. My husband loves them! He doesn't like chocolate chip cookies much but he was very surprised with these. I agree...5+ stars!

World's Best Lasagna

Reviewed: Sep. 26, 2006
My husband loved this recipe!! I changed it a bit. I didn't use the fennel seeds and did end up using 18 noodles instead of 12. I covered the lasagna with a layer of noodles and topped with some more meat sauce (since I had some left over) and some cheese and parm cheese. I also added spinach in with the layers. I will probably lessen the meat sauce next time as it was a lot but since I used a deep dish pan it was no problem. And I will probably double the ricotta cheese. I actually vaccuum sealed half of it in squares so I can have a quick dinner in the future. Thanks!

Buttermilk Pancakes II

Reviewed: Sep. 14, 2006
Fantastic. My husband said these were delicious. I followed the recipe to a T except I added blueberries and chopped strawberries. These made so many that I froze them individually on a cookie sheet and then vacuum sealed them in packets of two. My husband just pops them in the microwave and has a quick breakfast before leaving for work. I think these will be a constant in our house.

I didn't like this too much. I think I may have added way too much garlic. I love garlic but this was a kicker. It was seeping through my pores! May try again but not too sure.
