Jamie's Cranberry Spinach Salad

Count me among the fans. Used cranberries and mandarin oranges, half the sugar and I used rice-wine vinegar (because that is what I had on hand). Very easy and looks lovely.

Slow Cooker Beef Stew I

Combined with reviewer Corrine's excellent suggestions, this four star recipe became a five star recipe. Don't be put-off by the prep work because it is worth the effort!

Asian Lettuce Wraps

Reviewed: Apr. 27, 2006
This was positively fabulous....I did make a few changes; 1) I used a mixture of pork/beef 2) Couldn't find pickled ginger so I used grated some fresh ginger; 3) These are really messy, so to make the wraps more "hand friendly", I prepared the wrap as the recipe indicated (use iceberg lettuce!). THEN, I wrapped the whole thing in a soft tortilla.. Viola :-)

Oriental Green Bean Salad

Really very good! I recommend using a light soy sauce, though. Fresh ginger is a must, in my opinion. I'm going to try this with other green veggies as well.

Garlic Chicken

Tastes wonderful and a snap to make. I've made this recipe several times and my only suggestion would be to make sure that the breasts are pounded somewhat thin - that way the chicken is somewhat crisp on the outside and still remains moist and tender on the inside.

Absolutely wonderful. I didn't add as much oil as the recipe called for and it still tasted great! Also, I added a bit of crumbled feta cheese. Yum!

Fatoosh

Really, really good. Try to keep find sumac if you can as it definitely adds to the unique taste of this salad. As for the pita chips: what I did was rub the tops of the pitas with olive oil and then sprinkle them with garlic, sea salt, and freshly ground pepper. Toast for 10 minutes or until golden brown. The oil and seasonings make the pitas turn out extra crispy and tasty.

Spicy Garlic Lime Chicken

Easy, easy, easy. And who would have thought that these simple ingredients would make such a tasty dish! I make this now at least once a week. My only other comment is that the amount of spices/oil/butter listed here is geared more for 3 chicken breasts, not 4.

Sean's Falafel and Cucumber Sauce

Reviewed: Jun. 11, 2004
Really, REALLY good... and I know falafel :) Based on other reviews, I decided to cut down on the amount of fat and bake the patties instead of deep frying them. They turned out a tad dry on the outside, but still moist on the inside. Still, they were very, very tasty. Also, I doubled the amount of sauce the recipe called for, too.

Sloppy Joes II

A very easy recipe and one that allows you to be creative. Based on other reviews, I cut down the amount of brown sugar to 1 tsp. I also wanted to liven-up the taste (so that the sauce wouldn't be too ketchup-y), so I just added 1/2 cup of ketchup and 1/4 cup of Heinz 57 sauce. It added just the right of oomph.

Jasmine Rice

Reviewed: Dec. 18, 2003
I thought this was quite good - its taste is very subtle but it makes a very pretty and fragrant side dish (as opposed to plain old boring white rice). As someone else suggested, this rice works best when served with something that has a "strong" flavor (i.e. curry, black bean sauces, etc.)

Sesame Pasta Chicken Salad

An excellent summer side dish. This will be a staple at my house! I threw in some crushed red pepper flakes for a little more "zing". Next time, I think I will also add some red and green peppers for a bit more color.

This soup is going to be a staple at my house as the weather gets colder. Served with a loaf of fresh French bread...can't be beat.
