Easy Ground Beef Stroganoff

Reviewed: Oct. 19, 2009
I exchanged the sour cream for creamcheese bec my family doesn't like sour cream. I only use 4 beef bouillion cubes and that was plenty. I only gave this 3 stars bec I reduced the salt to 1 tsp and it was still very salty. I wished I didn't add any salt. I just used one large onion. I served it with pasta shells and garlic bread. I think it would've been 4 stars if it weren't so salty.

Zucchini and Potato Bake

This was tasty. Too spicy for my kids and they wished I had made some without the paprika. But my husband and I liked it as a side for the baked Garlic ginger chops also from allrecipes.

Chocolate Chip Orange Zucchini Bread

Reviewed: Sep. 20, 2009
This is good zucc bread. It didn't last long at my house. I think it could use more choc chips. I'll make again. I tried making them as muffins too but thought they were dry so I'll stick with the bread.

Zucchini Chocolate Orange Cake

Reviewed: Sep. 10, 2009
Yummy! Instead of orange zest, I used a tsp orange extract. my 12 inch zuccine was 3 cups shredded. I made this twice bec my kids requested it again. Glaze it from the bottom so it can soak up the glaze juices then glaze the top. It's a keeper.

Broccoli with Poppy Seed Butter and Parmesan Cheese

Reviewed: Sep. 3, 2009
My family liked it this way. I just put the broccoli with 1 inch water in a microwavable bowl and covered it with plastic wrap and microwaved 6 mins. Drain and add the remaining ingredients. My husband gave it a 3 thumbs up and said I should cook more often.

Churros

Reviewed: Jul. 15, 2009
I didn't change the ingredients. I rolled them and made them the length of my ring finger and it only made 15. Fried for about 6 minutes. It is like the one at six flags except I wish I had a tool to pipe the nutella in it. Instead we just dunked them. Still good. next time I'll double the batch bec this was enough for only 3 people.

Simple Scones

Reviewed: Jun. 19, 2009
I mixed as is except used chocolate chips instead of raisins. 1/2 cup is not enough. These were just OK. They are a little bland so I'm sure if you played with the recipe you'd get better tasting scones. I used a star cookie cutter and it made 24 scones. It is what it is, simple scones, but I'm rating it a 3 only bec those who rated it high made their own variations of this recipe so it's kind of deceiving to give it 5 stars for such a simple scone. I'm still looking for the perfect scone recipe.

this is really good. I added two eggs and 1/2 can sweetened condensed milk for added sweetness as suggested. I will definitely make it again this way.

Meat Loaf Pie

Reviewed: May 1, 2009
My whole family loved this. We all went back for another serving and then my 11 yr old went back for 3rds. my husband said it was a keeper. I used 3 potatoes(mashed with butter, milk, pepper, salt) and I used 4 fastfood packets of ketchup and added one tbsp brown sugar to the ground beef mixture. I did not use a pie crust like others suggested. I doubled the cheddar cheese on top. It was perfect.

Broccoli with Lemon Butter Sauce

I made it as is and put a few drops of sesame seed oil to accompany the asian salmon that also uses seseme seed oil. My husband said it was his favorite way to eat broccoli. My 11 yr old twins who don't eat broccoli, ate it too. We will make it again.

Sugar Cookie Frosting

I was in need of a frosting for my gingerbread cookies and found this. It worked perfectly. I used butter instead of shortening and used a cake decorating tool to draw on the cookies. Thanks for the keeper recipe that uses basic ingredients.

Alaska Salmon Bake with Pecan Crunch Coating

Reviewed: Nov. 19, 2008
This was good. I used a whole salmon and it took 20 minutes to cook. The kids didn't care for the pecans but they said it was good. My husband and I liked it but the asian salmon from Lynseey is much better and the kids eat it all up. We make the asian salmon all the time.

these are good. I used pancake mix but I added garlic powder, pepper and cayenne as suggested by others. I tried it with and without cornmeal. I think it's better without.

Funnel Cakes I

Reviewed: May 24, 2008
You can get the funnel cake sundae at Six Flags Great America for 9 dollars or you can make these, sprinkle with powdered sugar, scoop of vanilla icecream on top of the warm funnel cake and drizzle with Hershey's chocolate syrup. Tastes just the same. Yummy! We made 4 homemade funnelcake sundaes, it was too much for a family of 4 and we couldn't finish it. No need to double the recipe if you make the sundaes. I did add 1tbsp sugar and 1/2 tsp vanilla as suggested by others. Thanks for the recipe.

Crabby Cream Cheese Wontons

Reviewed: Mar. 18, 2008
Of all the crab rangoons recipes I tried so far, this was the best of all 4. I was always looking for the missing ingredient in my previous batches and I think it could be the sesame seed oil. Not sure but I will make this again. My husband likes it too. I only used two tbsp of worcestershire based on other reviews and that worked fine.

Wonton Wrappers

Reviewed: Mar. 18, 2008
I like this recipe because it cooks fast and keeps its shape. But mine didn't come out crispy so I'll keep looking. I used it with the crabby creamcheese wontons from this site and love that filling for crab rangoon. I just need to find a recipe for crispy wonton wrappers now and i have a hit appetizer.

Neiman Marcus Chocolate Chip Cookie

Reviewed: Oct. 14, 2007
I didn't try this recipe because I got the original email for the neiman marcus 250 cookie and this isn't it. I just wanted to share it with everyone and that mean putting in a rating. Anyhow, here it is: follow directions for this existing recipe you have here but only use these ingredients. makes 112 cookies bec. this is the ORIGINAL neiman marcus recipe from that email I got way back in 1996. Enjoy! 2 cups butter 4 cups flour 2 tsp baking soda 2 cups white sugar 5 cups blended oatmeal(measure 5 cups then put that in the blender) 4 cups chocolate chips or 24 oz. 2 cups brown sugar 1 tsp salt 8 oz hershey bar grated(I hate grating this bar but I always do for this cookie) 4 eggs 2 tsp baking powder 3 cups chopped nuts(your choice) 2 tsp vanilla I make the whole big batch and then roll the whole dough into balls and just bake the amout of cookies I want to bake, the rest of the balls I leave in the freezer for another day.

Mom's Apple Fritters

Reviewed: Oct. 14, 2007
this was plain but good with the powdered sugar. However, if you top it with vanilla ice cream(or cool whip) and chocolate syrup drizzled on top, it tastes just like the sundae waffles from six flags great america. yummy. I will make this again as a sundae.
