About this Cook
My wife and I share this account. I like to make my own beer, grow my own vegetables and enjoy sports. My wife has set aside most of her interests, especially sewing, to raise our 6 kids and multitude of pets. When we met, we both enjoyed cooking and eating good food. She preferred to cook from a recipe and I preferred to wing it and create something from whatever happened to be around. We have unloaded most of our cookbooks since so much is online like this site.
My favorite things to cook
No favorites, really. But I tend to stick with meals and leave desserts and baking for others. My wife cooks during the week and we share the cooking on the weekends.
My favorite family cooking traditions
Many evolved from my childhood as noted in the recipes I've posted. As a Boy Scout, I learned to cook in a primitive setting and as a cook for my fraternity house and one summer in a high end burger joint in New Orleans, I learned to cook in an institutional setting, as well.
My cooking triumphs
I made some Barbecue Beef Tips for my fraternity one night that were a little on the spicy side. It was pretty funny, because they couldn't get enough of the barbecue and also couldn't get enough to drink to put out the fire. I once took 80 # of live crawfish from Lake Charles, LA to Ft Worth Texas along with pot and burner to put on a Boil for my brother and some buddies from High School and College. I brewed and bottled a "Reunion Red Ale" for my 25th high school reunion, but 2 cases just wasn't enough.
My cooking tragedies
More often related to the mess left behind to clean up than the actual food, itself.

Tangy Chicken Breasts
We had a big family dinner last weekend and made this. This chicken ROCKS!!! Even the littlest of the kids came back for seconds.

Cracker Candy
Make sure you grease the pan before you start. The stuff we could get out of the pan was TERRIFIC and the rest we needed a jackhammer to get out of the pan.
