I'm 31 years old and newly married to my long-term partner. We both value locally grown foods, and things that are processed in a sustainable manner. We are lucky to live in Madison where the local food scene is so vibrant!
My favorite things to cook
I love baking cakes especially but for everyday food I've been on quite an Indian kick lately. I was lucky to get a lesson from the author of the book Six Spices which really helped simplify the process of making the various curry gravies. Now I use that and 660 Curries all the time.
My favorite family cooking traditions
My family cooking traditions consist of Oreos in milk with canned peaches and heavy syrup, or Bisquick biscuits covered with canned chicken a la king, so I don't hold to them much anymore.
My favorite appropriated family tradition is fresh lefse with a little butter and sugar at Christmas time. MMMMMMM!
My cooking triumphs
Everytime I feed someone and they're too busy eating to talk. :)
My cooking tragedies
I once made a German chocolate cake for my husband's (then boyfriend) birthday. I didn't know that you had to temper the eggs to make the frosting so I just dumped them into a pot of hot butter, sugar and coconut. I ended up with the most disgusting scrambled eggs ever!
