Rich Chocolate Truffle Pie

Reviewed: Nov. 13, 2009
Very Rich! I used milk chocolate chips, instead of semi-sweet - personal preference. Because I used milk chocolate, I didn't add any extra sugar at all. Also, I don't own a microwave, so I just heated the cream just to boiling, then poured it over the chocolate chips and let it set. Then stirred the chocolate chips until smooth. The pie is creamy and wonderful. My family loves it. Thanks so much for sharing!

Russian Tea

Reviewed: Nov. 2, 2009
Ahhh... Just like I remember. I left out the sugar completely, seemed like 2 cups of sugar was A LOT (especially with sweetened lemonade and Tang). It is perfect! I also agree with a previous reviewer, 3-4 tbsp is A LOT of mix per serving. I use no more than 2 tbsp.

Spintz Cake

Reviewed: Jul. 20, 2008
The cake is awesome! It is light and fluffy and has a great chocolate flavor. However, my cakes would NOT come out of the baking pans. The layers came out in pieces. I will have to work on that, since the cake is SO worth it. I did not like the peanut butter filling. It was too thick and sticky for our tastes. I didn't like the frosting either. But the cake will now be my new chocolate cake from scratch recipe. Thanks for sharing!

Almond Croissants

Reviewed: Jul. 20, 2008
I think the times at the top of the recipe are a little misleading - I didn't realize the dough needed to chill overnight. The filling is awesome! Reminds me of the almond croissants that I used to buy at a local supermarket - unfortunately, they don't sell them anymore - so I had to find a new way to get my fix. I found the recipe easy to follow - but my dough didn't turn out like croissants. Instead of light and flaky, it is thick and hard. That could be an error on my part, though. All in all I think it is a wonderful recipe, and it is definitely a keeper! Thanks for sharing!

Brown Sugar Smokies

Reviewed: Feb. 3, 2008
I rolled mine and placed in a crockpot to cook - like another reviewer suggested. That didn't work for me. The bacon was slimy and they were sitting in grease. I did some others in the oven, as directed, and they were much better - however I couldn't taste much of the brown sugar that I had sprinkled on top. I do want to make these again - because both my son and I really enjoyed them - I think I will try coating my bacon with brown sugar as suggested in other reviews.

Bacon Roasted Chicken

Reviewed: Feb. 3, 2008
Not at all what I was expecting. It smelled so good while it was cooking, but I found the chicken to be greasy overall and it left a greasy taste in my mouth. My family wasn't so fond of it either - which is odd, since they love chicken and bacon. The only change I made was to use chicken broth instead of beef broth. That could have affected the grease factor, possibly. I will not make this again.

Mexican Shrimp Cocktail

This was good, but not what I was expecting. It was much more runny than I had hoped. But I liked the taste of it. I am not sure I would make this again.

Cider Cheese Fondue

Reviewed: Feb. 3, 2008
Not what I expected, but not bad. Mine didn't come out creamy - it was stringy. Didn't coat the vegetables or bread at all - slid right off of everything. I followed the recipe exactly, with the exception of adding 1/4 tsp. garlic powder. My son is happy with the results - though I am not sure that I would make it again.

Five-Minute Chocolate Fondue

Reviewed: Jul. 11, 2007
I made this last night. I used Ghiradelli chocolate chips and the amount of cream called for in the recipe. I also substituted Kahlua for the Rum. It was smooth and creamy and RICH. We dipped strawberries, bananas, marshmallows and potato chips. Quick and easy. I will definitely be making this one again!

Parmesan Fondue

Reviewed: Jul. 11, 2007
This one is a keeper. It was quick and easy and very good. I followed the directions exactly, but did halve the recipe, since I only needed to serve 3 people. My husband said the taste reminded him of Alfredo sauce. We served the fondue with French bread cubes, raw broccoli, cauliflower and carrots.

Buttery Spritz Cookies

Reviewed: Dec. 16, 2006
This recipe is awesome. I followed the recipe exactly. The dough was a dream to work with, even after adding quite a bit of food coloring, to get the desired color. It loaded into my cookie press with ease and came out perfectly onto the pan. The cookies are yummy and perfect - not hard and crunchy like other Spritz recipes that I had tried. My son and I just made our first batch for the Staff at his school for Staff Appreciation, but we will be making another batch of these for Santa Claus. The ones we are making today, my son decorated with color sprinkles. The next batch I want to dip in melted chocolate or drizzle melted chocolate over the cookies after they have cooled. Thank you for sharing this recipe - it is going in my handwritten cookbook and I hope to pass this recipe down to my kids and grandchildren one day.

Quick Gnocchi

Reviewed: Sep. 23, 2006
I had never tried Gnocchi - though I had heard of it before. Yesterday, my husband and I were having lunch at a fancy Italian restaurant and they had Gnocchi on the menu - for $17.50. I wanted to try it, but I didn't want to spend that much money, so I came home and searched for a Gnocchi recipe. I happened to have all the ingredients for this one on hand. Though I am not a fan of instant potatoes - this didn't have that "instant" taste. It was quick and easy to make - my 9-year old son rolled out the dough and cut it into bite-size pieces, while I did the cooking. We loved it! I had mine with some parmesan cheese - he ate his out of a bowl like he was eating chips. I can't wait to try it out on my husband with marinara sauce. Thank you!

Truck-Stop Buttermilk Pancakes

Reviewed: Jul. 31, 2006
Ahhh... These are absolutely AMAZING! I kept playing with the recipe to get it down to just 1 egg, which is all I had. Finally found that magic number. These are the best pancakes I have ever made at home! This recipe is definitely a keeper! I am going to give the orginal recipe to my husband to take to the fire station with him - the guys will love these! Thank you!

Buttermilk-Herb Bread

Reviewed: Jul. 29, 2006
This was an easy bread to make, and it tasted good, but not as good as I was hoping for. Both my husband and I had a piece right out of the oven, and it was just sort of bland, but I am not sure what it is missing. He did toast a piece later on and liked it better toasted.

Broccoli with Garlic Butter and Cashews

Reviewed: Jul. 29, 2006
I made this exactly as the recipe states last night for dinner, to go along with Tilapia. It was yummy! A nice change from regular steamed broccoli. I agree that the sauce was a bit thin, but the taste was excellent. Thank you!

I liked this a lot - and my husband did too. I followed the directions exactly, but next time I may try the Old Bay Seasoning that other reviewers recommend. We will make this again - so quick and easy and I had everything needed to make it on hand already. Thank you!

Bacon Jack Chicken Sandwich

Reviewed: Jul. 25, 2006
Yummy! My husband and I both really liked this recipe. We used the bacon, pepper-jack cheese, tomatoes, onions and avocado slices. My husband used BBQ sauce on his, I used Steak Sauce on mine. And I had to bake my chicken, since our grill is out of fuel. But it was a perfect weeknight meal for us - a nice change!
