I am a wife, mother of 3 & grandmother of 2. I,m an office manager for 2 businesses and the Treasurer for a community organization. I love to travel when time permits, but there is still no place like home in Beaufort, NC with it's quaint atmosphere.
My favorite things to cook
I love to cook just about anything. My favorite thing to do is experiment in the kitchen. I take the ingredients I have and try to come up with new dishes.
My favorite family cooking traditions
My kids are grown with families of there own, but still insist on coming to Christmas breakfast. They say it's tradition, even though I tell them that it's time to make their own traditions. Didn't work! So every Christmas it's my special Granola French Toast w/ fresh fruit, country ham, homeade sausage links and breakfast casserole. We have family and guest that come to the beach and think that the trip is not complete unless I fix French Toast. It's funny how traditions start.
My cooking triumphs
Managed to make and decorate a wedding cake with 1000 handmade edible pearls in 5 different sizes, and handmade spirals & swirls. Setup, decorate & cater the Wedding reception for 250+ people, while being the mother of the bride. Never again!!!!
My cooking tragedies
My husband loves oysters anyway you fix them. I on the other hand absolutely hate them. Although I would occasionally cook them I had never steamed them. So I purchased a bushel of fresh local oysters and attempted the task. Big mistake!! I ended up with something with the texture and about as much moisture as cardboard. That was 20 years ago and we're still together but I now no how to steam oysters!
