I did many student exchanges... for example with Canada, Great Britain, Finnland, France and Luxembourg... so I experienced a lot of diffenrent cultures and especially different food. I lived for 3 month in Canada and had time to get used to the food and to fall in love with pancakes and broccoli. I hate French food... there is barely something that I like. Anyway... I am more of a "American homemade food"- lover. I travel a lot in my sparetime and I am always very curious to go somewhere new and try new food. I am very exited to check out the recipes on allrecipes.com ... maybe I even find my new favorite recipe... we'll see
My favorite things to cook
I looooove cupcakes and I bake them a lot. But I always try new recipes or change few details to see whether they turn out MORE perfectly. I also like to bake Muffins, rice crispy treat or American apple pie. I also love chocolat chip cookies. I am looking for a SPECIAL recipe for years. My hostmom in Canada always made chocolat chip cookies from Texas or so. The recipe was on a postcard.... Hope I will find a recipe that is nearly as good as the ones from my hostmom.
My favorite family cooking traditions
One of my grandmas is living at the north sea. She makes the best chicken soup EVER. We always have chicken soup when we arrive there. My other Grandma lives close to Bavaria. She makes the best "SpƤtzle" and bread dumpling. On christmas we always have duck or smoked pork chop with red cabbage and potatoes.
My cooking triumphs
I can't think of one... but the recipes I try are mostly turning out good... but I would not say that I should call that a triuph.
My cooking tragedies
If I would write about all my cooking tragedies I will still write tomorrow. So much for that. I had lots of tragedies when I began to cook. I still have some... but who cares. As long as it turns out perfectly the second time I try to cook or bake something it is alright... if not... I'll never use the recipe agian :)
