The roast was fine with the okra tomatoes instead of the tomato sauce but I want to remember, in the future, how to make it "right" so I can just automatically have it as one of my easy go-to recipes for winter.I lightly tore the rest of the brisket apart and added a couple of cans of brown… MORE

About this Cook
I'm 59, retired and live in a tiny townhouse on the water with my husband of 20 years and 2 cats. I have three grown stepsons and two grandchildren, all living nearby.
My favorite things to cook
I love my crock pot and also love to make roasts in the oven and then additional meals from their leftovers. I have a tiny galley kitchen, so small it doesn't have any drawers!
My favorite family cooking traditions
I turned my husband on to fresh coffee beans and have fond memories of our search for "the" bean we liked best. Too, he did not have much variety in meat dishes before he met me so I love making a new dish or finding a meat he can't identify (not hard, he didn't know a pork roast when it bit him :-)
My cooking triumphs
I'm known for trying "unusual" recipes. My favorite we still talk about (mostly because we didn't like it) was for friends who didn't eat much beef but did eat fish so I made "tuna spaghetti". In previous efforts to cook "healthy" I've made gourmet turkey and polenta dishes, and cooked a capon for Christmas Eve dinner for family because a turkey was too large, etc.
My cooking tragedies
I don't like to bake much but my husband loves desserts. His ex-wife or one of his sons has to make his birthday cake each year.
