I am 52 and have been married for fourteen years to a terrific man who is 61. (We're both try agains)No children, just us. We love to cook but recently we have had to really watch ingredients because of potential diabetes. My husband has an intensive job and I have retired to look after our home and all round everything. My heritage is Mennonite and I am the only one left who makes the old recipes, with a healthy tweak. My favorite time is when my husband and I cook together on weekends. We will smoke fish or ribs, make perogies and cabbage rolls. Or maybe it's wontons and chile and make pickles. I have to give you all of the recipe for tomato jelly. Christmas Eve we always have fondue. Cheese fondue and an oil fondue where we do bison meat and lots of seafood and vegies. New Years Eve it is King Crab legs, Caesar salad and garlic bread. I am very proud that in over the past year since trimming fats, carbs and unnecessary calories from our diet, my husband has lost 45 pounds and I have lost 15 pounds. But trust me, we still eat very well. We also excercise a lot more too. Thanksgiving turkey! I have cooked at least 40 turkeys but this was rank. Maybe the turkey had been thawed and refrozen. It is the first time we threw out the turkey and ate all the trimmings. Try again at Christmas.
