About this Cook
I first started on this website at the tender age of 15 years old. I love to cook. I have been using this website since 2001 and continue to evolve in cooking because of all of the recipies I have found.
My favorite things to cook
Speghetti and everything with gravy. :)
My favorite family cooking traditions
Thanksgiving has always been my favorite holiday. It's amazing how I get sick and tired of leftover turkey and dressing during the weeks following Thanksgiving, but start craving it right around September. Everyone in my family makes at least one dish for Thanksgiving. I have not made the turkey yet... I am a little intimidated by big dishes like that. :)
My cooking triumphs
Cooking for my boyfriend things he would not normally eat, but he winds up enjoying. He is the pickiest eater I have ever come to know, but I have not made that many dishes he has not liked... and believe me, he does tell me if he does not like it.
My cooking tragedies
I tried to make a gravy the other day. I had made the rue for the gravy and turned the stove off, or so I thought I did. I had actually turned it on high. My rue was ru-ined. :) Not only that, the house was so smokey you could not see your hand in front of your face.

Soul Smothered Chicken
Thank you all for reating my recipie. Please keep in mind to use seasoning to cater to your own taste. AllRecipies.com cut down my seasoning mix a lot probably for sodium purposes. Also it may now be clear in the recipie, but add the flour after saute of the vegetables. That way, there are no clumps of flour in the gravy. Also use bone in PLEASE. Happy Meals Veronica

Grandma's Green Bean Casserole
I quadupled this recipie for an office potluck. I was hoping to bring some home, and I was close to not getting my wish. Everyone loved it. I added french onions into the mix and put some on top as well for texture. Make SURE that you get french cut beans and not whole cut. There is a huge difference in how the casserole holds up by using the wrong bean.

Split Pea Soup with Rosemary
This was great even though I did not have rosemary. I used a mushroom base from Better Than Bouillon, added two ham shanks. and blended leaving some peas for texture. Even before blending it had a creamy texture. Thanks for sharing.
