About this Cook
Oh my gosh! I love to cook because it reminds me of my Mamaw! She was a robust woman who loved to cook and it showed! I feel like she is right there with me everytime I use a spoon of hers or make mac-n-cheese (her trade-mark). My most favorite cooking experience is when I made ginger bread men for the first time. I didn't eat them. I used them on wreaths that I gave as Christmas presents. I really put my heart in those gifts.
My favorite things to cook
My favorite dish to prepare is "bet it's healthy burritos"! I created that dish while my husband began his health nut venture. And to this day they are down right loved around here! I have a "perty-darn good pizza" made with a wheat crust. All the 'buff' friends we have had over love it! They even get seconds.
My favorite family cooking traditions
My favorite family cooking tradition is when my family has our yearly Christmas open-house. Everybody has asked every year for me to make my spinach fondue and the little smokies. They both have come to be a family tradition. Right along with the "Where's the TUMs Chili", for New Years Eve.
My cooking triumphs
The first time I made an appitizer for our teacher luncheon. I started them at 10 om and didn't get done until 2am the next day. At least they were hot when I got to school!
My cooking tragedies
I was making our family recipe of bean chaloupas. I got the vegetable grease WAY to hot. Well the house we were renting has an alarm system within it's wiring. The smoke filled that whole house and the alarm began to blare! We didn't know the code to shut it off. S0, my husband had me hold a pillow over the 'horn' that was making all the noise. He called the landlord and asked for the code. At the end of all it all he found the owners manual which had in ink on the front cover the code. What a mess!
