About this Cook
I love experimental cooking. I look for fun ideas and then try to make them my own. I love watching the Food Network or browsing AllRecipes for inspiration on what to make next.
My favorite things to cook
cinnamon/vanilla pancakes and fench toast, soups, pasta dishes, anything chicken, and pan fried garlic pork chops when I need some feel good food
My favorite family cooking traditions
Thanksgiving!!! Everything is homemade and I look forward to my aunt's twiced baked mashed potatoes all year! Also my mother's meatloaf is fantastic (I think I might be able to eat the whole loaf)and I have yet to get it to taste exactly like hers - oh, but I'll get there. She also makes a mean cheescake that is just too rich for words.
My cooking triumphs
Chocolate mud pie and Meat Lover's chili that my fiance loves (the only things he has actually said is his favorite - this is quite a feat considering he says everything is just good to him - drives me nuts). My personal fav is an apple/veg roasted chicken - wooo so good. OOOO...and these fabulous pork and steak burritos with pico de gallo - yum.
My cooking tragedies
pumpkin soup...I was so sad. I actually found the recipe on allrecipes and was SO excited to make it because it was fall and I LOVE pumpkin in the fall. I had a preconceived notion of what it should taste like and it just did not turn out how I imagined it would. I was quite bummed about it.

Tomato Chicken Parmesan
Fantastic. The only things I changed were I sauted the breaded chicken in olive oil with 2 cloves of garlic - chopped (I LOVE GARLIC!). Also, instead of monterey jack cheese I used mozzerella cheese and then sprinkled parmesan cheese on top of that along with some black pepper. Great "go-to"recipe and very easy to make.

Harvest Pumpkin Soup
Disappointed. I was so excited about this recipe and even used other's suggestions for it (i.e. canned pumpkin, 1/2 and 1/2, and pumpkin pie spice) my kitchen smelled fabulous and yet this just did not turn out very well for me. I was a bit pressed for time so I was looking for something easy which it was very easy to put togther but the initial upfront taste was bitter and unpleasant. The aftertaste although was very good and tasted like pumpkin. If anyone has any sugestions as to how to make this better I would welcome them because I absolutely love anything pumpkin!
