My favorite family cooking traditions
Every year my family gets together to make Swedish sausage for Christmas dinner. This started for each of us with my grandmother and grandma started from her family that came here from Sweden. We don't get to all come together on Christmas, so this is our Christmas together. We stuff the sausage into casing, while wearing goofy headwear (bandanas, caps, ponytails, etc.) taking pictures, and lots of catching up. We Eat lots of great food, we have an ornament exchange, but the centerpiece of the day is making the sausage and being together. I am 10 days away from this years get together and its at my house this year and I need to get busy finding recipes to make for that day. So, thanks in advance for the great food I will make from your recipes.
My cooking tragedies
When I was first married I wanted to make fried chicken (I had only cooked chicken once before, and I used shake n bake). The first problem I had was I didn't know how to cut it, so hubby did it. Then I began to cook & lets skip to the end, It was burnt on the outside and raw on the inside. Needless to say we went out to eat that night. 30 years later, I make great fried chicken now. Moral of the story ~ don't give up.
