Vegetarian for 3 years, newly converted vegan. It's a little difficult though not too hard-I'm learning.
As a vegan who lives with omnivores, I have to prepare food that contains meat. I take care of my ill grandmother so although I dislike it, I prepare meat for her because that's just how she's always ate, and I'm not forcing anything on anybody. She took care of me so now it's my turn to her. Of course I do cook some meals without any meat for her but there are several recipes she loves, and asks me to make so I do so out of love.
I have a little girl. She eats a vegetarian diet, not a vegan diet.
As far as my pet goes: I do not believe in witholding meat from an animal that is carnivorous by nature: cats can not digest very much carbohydrates so that is why they get fat, and diabetic on dry cat food. I become angry when I hear of vegans who refuse to feed meat to their dogs, and cats.
To me this is an oxymoron because you're making your pet highly unhealthy, and even worse it
My favorite things to cook
Sesame tofu, anything tofu, pizza, pasta, bread, beverages
My cooking triumphs
Learning how to prepare, and use tofu...it is so versatile, and healthy for you! Bland, it absorbs the flavors of what you cook it with: a magnificent substitute for meat. In some dishes, I prefer not to use that much tofu but in others, I use a lot.
My cooking tragedies
My first experience with tofu was tragic: I had no idea the preparation it took to get the tofu just right/to have the right texture in certain recipes..so my first few recipes turned out bad.
