Married mother of 3, oldest on his own and is picking up on the love for cooking, pretty good too. Currently a stay at home mom and I love everything about cooking except doing the dishes. My family loves watching the Food Network, Guy, Paula, and Rachael are our favorites and for the fun and the thrill of it we watch Andrew Zimmern on the Travel channel (that man has some disgusting food fetishes), and some brass ones at that! I am also an abstract artist.
My favorite things to cook
Whatever makes my family happy. I get requests from the extended family all the time but especially at the holidays. My favorite type of cooking would be Southern, savory, and comfort food, I guess they are pretty much all in the same. Italian food would be a close second, again comfort food. Luckily I don't eat alot of food at once, moderation and small meals is the key.
My favorite family cooking traditions
Sausage Roll for every occasion, I get it requested alot. I also make a Christmas birthday cake every year so we don't forget whos birthday we are celebrating. We have Munchie Night during the holiday vacation also. We set up a table in the livingroom, watch a movie and have all my kids favorite finger foods and they get to have soda which is typically a no-no around my house.
My cooking triumphs
I would have to say my Sausage Roll everyone loves it, I usually have to make 6 to 8 of them because the word gets out I've made them everyone wants one, or two for their self. I have turned what was once a chore into a hobby that I love. I also have turned collecting cookbooks into a hobby, I have even found some great ones in antique shops.
My cooking tragedies
I made a decadent cheescake and was hurried and thought the cake had set already and when I went to remove the pan it poured out the side and it was ruined. It would have been great I spooned a taste of what was left and it was delicious, next time I'll call it pudding and sprinkle some crushed cookie on top. I threw together a Berry Crumble that was a big hit so alls well!
