Fluffy French Toast

Reviewed: Feb. 12, 2012
My family & I thought this recipe was wonderful. The only addition I made was about a 1/4t fresh nutmeg. Will definitely make this again.

Egg Custard Pie III

Reviewed: Mar. 26, 2010
This was the first time I've ever made any kind of custard & it was so good. Very easy & tasty. I doubled the filling, added some cinnamon, & keep the sugar at a cup. I will be keeping this recipe handy!

I made this today & I thought it was great. I used Texas toast & I used fresh nutmeg since that was what I have on hand. Will make this again!

Beef Marinade I

Reviewed: May 26, 2009
I've made this twice now & this is the best marinade I've ever used. I admit, I did use it as a base and I changed a few things. For our tastes, I use garlic (minced & sliced) instead of cloves, 1/2c olive oil & 1c vegetable oil, red pepper flakes & after the first time I made it, I now omit the salt. I also forgot the vinegar the first time, too, and it was still good. We've used it on kebabs, it is so tasty. My husband loves it!

Fried Mozzarella Cheese Sticks

Reviewed: Mar. 16, 2009
We thought these were excellent! I had about 1/2 block of mozzarella I had to use so I cut that up instead of cheese sticks & used garlic powder instead of garlic salt. I also double dipped mine & set the temp on my fryer at 350 (they wouldn't have been browned enough otherwise). Overall, good recipe. Beats store bought.

Herbed Corn

Reviewed: Feb. 24, 2009
Yum! What an easy way to zip up the corn. I used Italian flat leaf parsley & used fresh minced garlic instead. Every bit of it was gone. This is a great recipe & I'll make this again.

Man-Lovin' Potatoes

Reviewed: Feb. 24, 2009
This was an easy & tasty recipe! I used cheddar instead of American (personal taste) and I put the bacon on top so it wouldn't get mushy. I added some cajun blackened seasoning for a little zip & it came out great. My husband really liked these potatoes so I guess the title fits, lol.

Roasted New Red Potatoes

Reviewed: Aug. 10, 2008
I polled the family for their opinions on these and they gave it a 3. Personally, I was a bit disappointed with this recipe. I found the potatoes to be bland even though I added additional seasonings. They were also done way sooner than 30 mins (about 15 for me). I might try these again if I jazz them up a little more.

Broccoli and Cauliflower Casserole

Reviewed: Aug. 10, 2008
I made this for dinner tonight & we liked it. I did tweek it a bit though. We're cheese freaks here, so processed cheese doesn't cut it with us. :) I used a 1# block of extra sharp cheddar, cubed. I used frozen broccoli/cauliflower, I cut the butter in half & doubled the rice (per other reviews). I melted the cheese in the butter before adding anything else, which worked out great. I also used crushed croutons in place of crackers since I had them on hand. I had no problem with the sauce being soupy, in fact it was rich & creamy. I will use this recipe again.

Tartar Sauce I

Reviewed: Aug. 8, 2008
Yummy! This is extremely good & super easy! I didn't have any lemon juice on hand so I used dill pickle juice instead (per other reviews). I also added a little horseradish for a little kick & squeezed the relish juice out first. It was wonderful. Like everyone else, I won't buy tartar sauce in the store again. Thanks for the recipe! I've made this several times now & my family loves it. I try to make enough to keep around since I've found it stays good for quite awhile.

Easy Yet Romantic Filet Mignon

Reviewed: Jul. 28, 2008
I thought this recipe was great! I made these for my mom & husband last night & we all loved it. I did skip the shallots because my husband hates onions of any kind (although I can sneak onion powder by him). I would make these again!

German Pancakes II

Reviewed: Jul. 28, 2008
Yum! I just discovered these recently & we love them. I like this recipe because the pancake was more dense than another recipe I was using. I've made them following the recipe exactly & also adding 1t cinnamon, 1t vanilla & 2 T sugar, too. They're both good. Although, I have gotten better results warming the eggs in hot tap water for a few minutes & warming the milk slightly. I also bake it at 400 for 25 minutes in a cast iron skillet. I skipped the syrup because we like these best with butter & confectioners sugar. Great recipe!

Pork Chops Stuffed with Smoked Gouda and Bacon

Reviewed: Jun. 16, 2008
Wow! These were some excellent chops and incredibly easy! I seared mine in a pan then baked them (Didn't have charcoal). I also had a good bit of cheese left & I put it on top of the chops & broiled them after baking. My husband told me I need to make them again soon.

Upside Down Pumpkin Cake

Reviewed: Dec. 26, 2007
This dish is too good! The only thing I changed was I added a little ginger & nutmeg (personal taste). There's no way I could ever flip this out of the pan, but it's no big deal to me! YUM!

Slow Cooker Sweet Potato Casserole

Reviewed: Dec. 12, 2004
Excellent & so easy to make. I made it for Thanksgiving & it was nice to have one less thing to cook in the oven! **Update** I've made this so many times & it's always good. If my topping is a little mushy, I take the slow cooker insert & put it under the broiler for a few minutes.

Excellent! Simple to make & very tasty! I did substitute 8oz sour cream for one of the bricks of cream cheese. We ate it with a round of sourdough bread.
