I am currently a newlywed and ex-pat teaching ESL in Busan, South Korea. I'm vegetarian, and love to try new foods. In Korea, we don't have ovens, and there aren't many vegetarian options. Right now, I'm trying to mix up my cuisine while trying to find ways to work around my equipment and food choice limitations.
My favorite things to cook
Comfort food, healthy food, and food that is good, but quick and easy.
My favorite family cooking traditions
My grandma is more like my second mother. It was her mission to make sure we were full at all times. She filled the kitchen with joy, and made it the center of the household. She gave me a deep appreciation of the comfort and satisfaction that food can bring. My mom taught me that food can be good AND healthy. :)
My cooking triumphs
Finding out that when it comes to cooking, intuition goes a long way, and that I really don't have to follow a recipe to the T.
My cooking tragedies
Sending my husband out to get last minute ingredients...
